do you think that you feel sorry for yourself? Do you think that if you do, it plays a major role in why you want to ctb?

There's a few values I've lived by most of my life. One being, "don't feel sorry for yourself".

I'm testing the waters to see what other people think.
I think the way your question is phrased is kind of mischievous, almost as if you're making the implication that people who struggle with their mental health just need to stop feeling sorry for themselves, pull themselves up by the bootstraps, and get over it.

There is a lot of complexity and nuance with people's struggles and it's okay to sit with them through it.

That's a shame you saw it as mischievous. We see the world as we are, not as it is.. and perhaps I hit a nerve.

I don't claim to know what's best for others, but I do think it's healthy to explore our own values. I'm simply exploring mine. If this topic doesn't interest you, you don't need to be a part of the conversation.

I never suggested that people struggling with their mental health should "pull themselves up by the bootstraps." I wasn't even referring to mental health diagnoses at all. There's a lot of judgment in your message, and I don't think this site is the place for that. A better approach would've been to ask me how I felt, or ask me anything for that matter. I think it's better to approach topics with curiosity instead of judgment.

You've assumed that people who want to end their lives do so solely because of mental illness. That's not the view I hold, and it wasn't what my post was about. If you'd asked why I'm here, you'd have understood that.

I'm sorry, I heard there are journalists and grieving parents lurking here bc they blame Sanctioned Suicide for their kids or people committing suicide, in general, and I thought you were one of those people trying to make people struggling feel guilty about feeling the way they feel. I can see that my impression was wrong and I am sorry.

For the most part, if people want to end their lives, I think it's largely due to a struggle with their mental health (I don't prescribe to the mainstream mental health disease model, I think people's struggles with their mental health are largely due to a spiritual, social and/or psychological struggle), but in some cases, I admit it has nothing to do with that.

I don't feel sorry for myself. To me, that would imply that I could have had a better life, and that I care about myself, and that my anguish is somehow not right or not deserved.

Thank you so much for your reply 🌷
My reason for being here is completely physical pain, hence why I wasn't thinking about mental health. Again…Thank you so much.
