Discussion Do you believe the tragic disappearance of flight MH370 was a murder/ suicide?

It's been a while since I watched documentaries about this. Although- to me- the evidence seems to point in this direction.

As far as I remember, the plane changed direction at the moment of switching air traffic controllers. Communications were manually shut off at this point. Most damningly, the pilot had seemingly practised the route on a simulator at home. There were supposedly many other courses simulated but still- it seems too great of a coincidence to me. Plus, I also heard that he had then both deleted that simulation and then, uninstalled the programme- which suggests he was trying to hide that.

It seems horrific to me- if that had been the case. The whole idea of a mass murder and suicide plot- why? I'm pretty misanthropic myself but, I can't imagine wanting to kill people in cold blood.

It's got to be so hard for his family too- who seemed sure he'd never do that and had no cause to. I wonder if they'll ever discover the likely truth of it. For the families of all the victims too- it's got to be so hard not knowing.

I think it's a suicide like the Germanwings case. I watched a lot of documentaries about it too. Very sad.

hi forever sleep, i just wanted to say that i always enjoy reading your thought-provoking posts :)

i also believe it was a murder-suicide based on:

1. the deleted practice route on the captain's flight simulator from a month earlier
2. recovered data from the plane showing that the pilot manually took the plane off its flight path and manually turned off the transponder and data transmission system
3. analysis of recovered parts of the plane, which seem to rule out most other theories

aside from mh370 and germanwings, it's possible that the plane crash in china a few years ago and the one in india last year were also pilot murder-suicides. but we will never know for sure. the uncertainty and the injustice must be so difficult for victims and their families. these pilots could have ctb'ed with empty planes. but i guess they wanted notoriety, so they crashed planes full of innocent people. very cruel and selfish.

imo the policies that penalize pilots for seeking mental health help, mental health stigma, and stressful working conditions are partially to blame.

it's weird how we entrust our lives to strangers whenever we board a plane. i'll try not to think about this the next time i'm on a flight...

From what I read it sounded like a murder suicide. This would also be my guess
