I do not believe in an omnipresent god who cares for us. Having said that, I don't know. But as ClownMe states, if there are gods, I see little benevolence.
Yeah I believe in God…sort of. I think God is like some kind of program or collection of things that is currently incomprehensible. Maybe never comprehendible.
I read a lotta Star Wars when I was a kid and the idea of a "force" made more sense to me than a Gandalf like figure who magically made everything happen like Santa Claus. Even a matrix makes more sense to me.

I don't think of "god" in this sense. I just think of it as the ensemble of matter. God is everything. And we're just a tiny part of this whole. Parts acting on and with other parts.
So we're just acting on the universe and the universe is reflecting back on us. And ill hopefully be transformed to some other kind of matter soon

i think there's a good chance of life being a simulation. if there's a "god" then he's just some programmer playing his universe's version of the sims

In the videogame S.O.M.A., they upload people's consciousness' onto a server and fire it into space as a way to keep the human race alive after a world-ending scenario. But in that game, they programmed a utopia for them inside of the server so that people could be happy.
If we're on a server, the devs are just kind of letting it run wild. I don't really see a pattern or purpose to anything that's going on.

If there is a god, I believe that it would be a being so different from us, that we wouldn't be able to even begin to comprehend it. Imagine someone, something which has the ability to create the universe... it would likely not think along the same lines as we do, 3-dimensional and all that.
And just like we couldn't understand it, it wouldn't be able to understand us. I mean, we think that we're the pinnacle of this gods creation, but what if we are simply one small unimportant step on the road to something much larger?

Well yes and no and? I believe that there is a greater power and/or a master type plan but organized religion to me is a no, no. A GOD? maybe, but it is something that is deep down for each person to not only decide about but what helps guide one's life.

Ah yes, the problem of evil. OPs question is one that theologians have been unable to give a satisfactory answer to for centuries. For me it boils down to two possibilities...
- An omnipotent, omnipresent, all-loving God does exist, but to understand why they allow suffering you would need to dedicate your life to prayer and scripture and attempting to discern that which is inherently unknowable.
- There is no God.
