Talking about full suspension hanging, do people pull themselves up with their hands after "kicking away the stool"?
Under survival instinct I mean.

Is there any documentation in merit?

I'm talking about grabbing the rope itself and any point of support in reach.

There is a lot of hanging videos on watch people die website and I think it's perfectly normal for SI to kick in especially with hanging as a method.

I see some of them moving etc but I'm not too sure if it's only because of SI or if it's because of suffocation from hanging. However, upon watching a lot of these videos I can say it's one of the quickest way to die ( besides gunshot and jumping from a building).

If done correctly you will be gone within two minutes.

All the best OP

Yeah it is normal because of SI kicking in and you'll try to pull yourself up, in my case I didn't kick the stool and chickened out so I'm still here

There are times when they hold the rope and kick the stool, slow the lowering so the knot ends up in the right place. You really don't want it to the side, and that ends up happening often. But once blood's been cut off from the brain, the limbs go jelly, and there isn't strength to do anything. I do have some morbid idea that they come-to at some point here, and it's just like when you wake up. You don't know where you are or what's happening. I don't know if this is a pos or a neg, and it doesn't last long without the brain getting fresh blood. And again, there's no strength in the limbs to fight it.
For 'documentation' i would recommend hanging vids. There are sadly hundreds available.

Some do.

That's why I'll tie my hands and feet up before I hang myself, so that SI doesn't get in my way.

Some do and some do not. SI must not be as strong in everyone.
If you find a way to bind or cuff your hands behind your back, that eliminates that. You only have a few seconds to cover since you pass out quickly.

A while ago I attempted short drop on an impulse. Used tree branch that was low. the length was short enough for my hands to be able to reach the branch.

when I pushed the chair, I started suffocating (did not black out). SI kicks in full force when suffocating. Before I knew it I pulled myself using the branch and somehow got off. I doubt I would have been able to pull myself if I could only reach rope and not the branch with both my hands.

I can't do short drop. So now thinking full suspension. Have some sex handcuffs and may use that to make it harder to instantly try to save myself

Thank you for your reply.

So, does this mean that for a full-suspension attempt to be successful, it's important to be unable to grab the bar holding the rope?
Wouldn't it be the same as grabbing the rope itself?

Unless death happens instantly, I would think it would be a natural, instinctive reaction. The body wants to live even if the psyche doesn't.

Many people try but can not hold themselves up For more than a few seconds, they give up. Im not sure if it is possible to get yourself out of the loop after jumping/kicking the object below you

A bar gives you something easy to grip. Throw in some SI adrenaline and you have a chance to pull up high enough to slip out of the noose.
You will be unlikely to do that with just the rope. The bar goes horizontal and the rope vertical. More people can do chin-ups than can climb a rope with just their hands.
A pair of cuffs would help too. It is all about stalling for the 3 to 10 seconds you need to have the noose knock you out. This is where watching videos can help. Watch the techniques and count the seconds before they go limp. Learn from their experience.

What about partial hanging? Could that happen? To suddenly get up while unconscious?

Interesting, so do you reckon that most of successful hanging attempts are charachterised by the bar being not in reach of hands?
