I've been on a bridge at late evening, just to examine the place, height and how busy it is.

I noticed that people don't care when you sit on the edge of a bridge (you are able to sit on the edge of the bridge that I visited).

I was experimenting to see how far I could go and no one looked at me the entire time.

I won't choose that bridge as a first option but it's interesting how little people care. They are too busy with themselves so they won't notice someone who wants to CTB on that bridge by jumping.

This is good though, I can still choose that bridge as a last option.

Did you have similar experiences? Or was this just coincidence and I shouldn't choose that bridge as a last option?

Edit: All the time people walk over that bridge but it's not like it's too much people.

People these days are preoccupied with their problems. They don't have any capacity to deal with other people's problems. I noticed that. The world is getting worse and worse with each passing years and other people's minds are full with their own problems.

Unfortunately yes. I sat on the edge of a tall building once and a group of women started crying because their fried died there last week. To not make it awkward, I left. If it's a bridge for cars, you are less likely to be stopped this way I imagine.

Years ago I did something similar. Standing there for no reason, car parked nearby. I stood a while, trying to find the nerve. No one stopped, or honked, or anything. I suppose it doesn't look that suspicious but still I know what you mean.

I think there was an interesting documentary from the gold gate bridge where people stood their thinking of jumping and other people just walked by as if the couldn't care less. A german psychiatrist mentioned once that if just one of these random people would have started a simple conversation with these people staying there they might have prevented the suicide.

I wish they didn't. My past attempt involved a bridge. Some idiot(s) called the police and just as I gave up on the attempt they showed up and I had the most embarrasing talk ever with them. Though my SI was too strong anyways so I doubt I would have succeeded. But the police made me go to the ward where my experience was awful and I sincerely hate whoever called them for it. And I did everything right, I went at night and wore dark clothing. That bridge is mostly for cars so I hoped no one would stop but of course they did.

Be careful scoping out the place like the user above wrote, someone could intervene in ways you might not find pleasant.

Once a man jumped off the Golden Gate. Afterwards they found a note saying he wouldn't jump if one person he passed on the way there smiled at him.

That's not the same thing as being on the bridge edge itself. After all how were these people supposed to know that a stranger's decision to live or die hinged on whether they directed a smile his way or not? No one would expect that or make that assumption although that sad anecdote is one piece of evidence attesting to the power of mundane kindness.

I don't even know what difference it makes. I personally would give everything to find a way to CTB without anyone knowing for as long as possible. I do not seek people's attention or sympathy, I don't even find my death to be sad or particularly depressing, I am just a human seeking relief.

It does make a difference because I don't want any of them trying to stop me or call the police.
The other bridges in the city are too low. This is the only bridge with a chance of succeeding CTB.

I have another option of CTB but if that doesn't work than it's the bridge that will bring peace.

I was afraid that someone would react somehow but thankfully no one did or else I would have been brought (unwillingly) into a psychiatric ward.

actually surprisingly yes.

in college, i went to the top of a very high parking lot and sat on the stairs by the edge, crying. a couple people walked by me on the stairs and didnt say anything. i dont blame them, cuz i myself dont think i would have acted any different in their position either. it was late at night and im a guy- i dont blame them. a woman asked me if i was alright, i told her yes, she asked if im sure, i said yes.

i wasnt going to kill myself that night regardless- not a fan of jumping method- but that did show me im not invisible. i was genuinely surprised someone said to me- i 100% did not expect it. that fact that i felt that was says a lot about society, but the fact someone did say something says something too.

Jumping is such an impressive method to me. Guaranteed to work above a certain height, one and done. I just know I couldn't, though. My state has huge bridges, but they're a long drive away. I'd just waste the gas and come home.

I personally would never try to CTB in public.

It's inevitable that most of us won't immediately execute the plan, and that we need some time before going with it. Standing at the edge of a bridge without jumping, will only get people to call the police on you.

I also like to have some privacy tbh, people won't hesitate to take photos and videos of our bodies if we do it in public.

I'm curious. Do you want people to care? Why so?
