Maybe the liars that aren't that smart.
My therapist did this when she wrote lies in my medical records. In her mails she emphasized how open and honest she were about her mistakes. While blaming me for literally everything. She really clinged to this idea. It was like she was lying to herself in order to convince others. I think though the outcome was pretty mediocre because I have hard evidence that her story doesn't add up.
There was an incident in my self-help group. One woman said to the other women "We really would be the last people to to ever gossip about someone." In this instance this made me paranoid. Especially, with the tone this statement was made. I am pretty sure they gossiped about me to that time. Maybe I am a little bit too certain. I am doing a lot of mind reading due to asperger (theory of mind). Honestly, the statement for me also doesn't make sense. It was a pretty bad lie. I think gossip is pretty normal. And the one's who don't do gossip would not have to emphasize that they are not doing it. It is something where such a statement makes you pretty suspicious.
