Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I've been a fairly devoted lurker here for. A month or so and an official member for a few weeks but this is my first post. Although I initially dismissed it requiring too much preparation and being too complicated, I'm going to give the N method a chance (as I fully realize now there's not 100% with any method)

I have tried both partial suspension hanging and the ligature method in the last month but it just didn't work for me, maybe as I have quite a thick neck at 240 lbs and 6'1.

After looking over the various methods and deciding what would be best for myself, I did gather up materials for the charcoal method about a weeks ago, but living in an apartment in a mid sized Canadian city, I'd have to drive to the outskirts of town somewhere to do it in my car. I did drive out a few nights ago about 20 minutes to a quiet back country area, but considers this a test run and didn't have the desire at the time to go through with anything.

This cost me $125 total but I don't mind as I'm keeping it as a back up plan. So as I'm currently off work on sort of informal mental health leave, I decided today I had the time and desire to get your of my apartment for awhile and grab the needed items for an exit bag, so have purchased now medical oxygen tubing and tape (from a medical supplies store), a few elastic drawstrings and stoppers (from a quilting store), and a couple of turkey roasting bags from a local grocery store (just $35 total so far)

I just now plan to get the other two important components tommrrow of a regulator and a 40 cubic sq ft nitrogen tank, there's at least three local welding stores I can try but they're closed for the day now. I'm prepared to probably lay down several hundred dollars for the two items, and I know I could order a cheaper regulator online so may go that route.

I'm somewhat socially awkward and anxoous to start with, so am a bit nervous about buying the nitrogen tank, but I have a few cover stories of using it for dispensing cold brew coffee or home alcohol dispensing/making, although it looks like at least a few others here bought tanks with no questions asked. I also read that it can be used by preppers for food storage.

Of course I still have to put it all together still and make it work but it's somewhat liberating to think I could have an operational system in less then 24 hours after thinking just this morning that the inert gas exit bag method was too complicated. I'd encourage anyone else who has the time and money but feels it's too much preparation to give it a go too!

I wanted to conclude by saying I appreciate this site existing as a pro choice forum for those chosing to take this route, especially in regards to the sheer amount of information on the various ways to CTB and the pros and cons in each method.

I also appreciate that it isn't currently blocked in Canada as it is in some countries. I've long been very pro choice in all regards to matters over what to do with your own body, including deciding to end your own life.

I just wish that MAID in Canada was even easier to obtain for solely mental health issues, which it may be in the future. I also feel that Nembutal should be available for over the counter purchase for anyone who wishes to use it without the need for medical intervention.
I'll reply to my own post by inquiring if anyone else is in the process of gathering materials for this method, or has them by now, and how everything is going with assembly and preparation (both physically and mentally!)?

Not going to lie you're making a good case for this method, I might have to give it some thought as the only other methods I have on hand currently are likely to be either painful or dubious.
I hope everything continues to go smoothly for you and thanks for sharing your experience collecting the materials for this, it was informative and useful

Sounds good, the welding shops said they'd sell it to you? Several Canadians here have mentioned in the recent past that it's restricted there & they don't sell it to individuals. Maybe they just went to the wrong places and/or didn't try enough, idk.

Hello, fellow Canadian interested in this method. Keep us posted on how it goes. Ie. What questions the shop asks, and the tank and regulator you purchase. I'm able to have the nitrogen tank delivered, but no clue what kind of regulator to buy and from where. If anyone has recommendations for regulators / flow meters with lpm rating let me know :)

Well glad to help out, and hopefully some others who're reading this who might be having doubts or skeptical about the cost and preparation involved. Researching this and other methods and gathering the materials has been about the only motivation I've had to do anything beyond eat, sleep and doomscroll in the last month, sort of a mini project!

The time, effort and cost involved seems like more than maybe any other method, but the trade off is a high reliability and peacefulness and low pain (I think it got an 82% in the PPH handbook, which I've downloaded from another post here)

Of course, I'm I my part way though my preparations, and there is another comment below about reading od other Canadians having issues getting nitrogen tanks from shops as individuals so I'll have to investigate they further (I think I've only seen one comment on this site about being denied a nitrogen tank based on memory)

Ah, that sounds concerning, I'll definitely be researching that more. At least I'm not putting all my hopes in this method. I do recall seeing one comment on a other thread in which they reported being denied a tank. Maybe they're catching on what they can be used for, but the same can be said for charcoal or even ropes.

Based on a Google search it looks like there's at least four welding supply shops in my city (population of around 150 K) that sell them and they're fairly close together so plan to try them tommrrow morning probably.

Hello back at you, fellow Canadian! I'm in the interior of B.C., as YMMV depending by province and region.

I plan to try out the Linde shop tommrrow first, and then there an Air Liquide and a couple other welding supply stores so I'll report back. I expect they'll ask what I need it for, if not due to suspicion but just in the name of customer service to make sure I'm buying the 'right' item for my needs.

It looks like people use nitrogen for dispensing cold brew coffee as well as for creamier beer from a keg so I'll go with those.

I looked into having a tank delivered, but it appears they're delivered empty so you have to go and get it filled somewhere. Have you actually ordered it yet?

As for regulator, the CMA 580 with a flowmeter is what I recall being the proper one for lower flow nitrogen tanks. I'm going to try to buy one at the wording store, even though they appear to be cheaper ordering from Amazon, which seems to have a plentiful supply.

Nope I haven't ordered it yet. They'd deliver it with nitrogen in it which is good. This method seems complicated but still highly considering it.

You mentioned CMA 580 with a flowmeter. I googled that but nothing came up. Do you have some more info on that? Also, some flowmeters don't seem to have fpm, which is another concern of mine.

Anyways hope it goes well tomorrow. Would be great if you could keep me / us posted :)
