I think any reason (or lack of a reason) is valid, especially to the person who is experiencing life themselves. There need not be a reason(s) for wanting to CTB and I see CTB'ing as a right that should be respected.
Anyways, to answer the question specifically, it makes sense as to why people would want to CTB because there are many negative experiences (health-wise and of course, the gamble of life experience itself) that may likely (or rather inevitable because no human being lives forever) arise from old age. Decreased stamina, being more susceptible to health problems and diseases, body aging and no longer as flexible as once was in one's prime or younger adult years, and of course, the unpredictability of life itself (every day sentient is another day to gamble with the unpredictability of life itself). So, it makes sense to why there are people who would want to check out (while they still have control, agency, and capacity to do so to avoid inevitable suffering that awaits them in the future).
This guy is one example of many who chose to take their fate into their own hands instead of allowing nature and uncertainty to take course.
