I've gone through a few phases during which I reached out to countless people from "make friends" online spaces in hopes of building up a nice, sweet friend group for myself, people I could feel at ease with with both fun and sensitive topics.

Even discounting my newfound online attempts, I'm beyond lucky to have retained a couple of friendships from school. People I can meet in person from time to time.

In person/on call, it's a delight. I feel... Normal. Sacred simplicity.

However, I find it awfully difficult to stay in contact via text... And thus, in person by extension. This isn't school anymore, where you'd meet up daily by design...

I may feel awfully bored/lonely, yet forming a text based response to someone feels like unfathomable feat... Which is ironic, considering I express myself with way more nuance and richness whenever the communication text based...

Even here, I reached out to a few people who gracefully reciprocated... And now, I simply cannot craft a response I deem worthy of their time and effort to continue interacting. :'D

Initiating, or writing posts like this, even, is kinda okay, since it's more of a "once and done" kind of thing... But I have high standards for how I express myself in a private relationship, and only want to show up if able to hold a rich, intricate conversation rather than a one word response.

I'm sorry, people I met recently... :(

If your town library facilitates a book club discussion group, you might find some with whom you could exchange views and might even become friends. The world today is pretty hostile to the sort of environment where making friends would be easy. Another possibility is volunteer work. Having a common task can be useful to keep conversation going and possibly build on.
