People got mad and the ICE secretary, Kristi Noem, just posted "Suck it." on Twitter in response and everyone forgot about it later.
Part of the reason that people are forgetting is because there's so much going on at the same time, barely anybody can keep up with everything. It's exhausting (which is why I am very glad I don't live there). They use that as a weapon to make people forget and move on. Whenever something really bad happens, news outlets don't report on it, and instead they choose some other stupid shit to make breaking news out of and draw attention to.
More people seem to know now that Israel is used by the US as a middleman to fund military campaigns and conflicts without actually getting involved themselves. It looks better if it's technically not the US doing it, but Israel. They fund them for "self-defense" and the funding actually goes to further the war economy.
The presidents are not even competent, they're just figureheads; it's the think tanks that are figuring everything out for the politicians. Hired analysts, social engineers and intellectuals, whole teams of them. Even if you remove the leaders, which is what most people are calling for anyway, those ones will survive, and hide. Only hope might be some kind of benevolent dictatorship where a guy seizes power and survives all assassination attempts...
I hope you'll be okay; if shit hits the fan, one can only hope you find a way out, but right now things aren't looking good, which is incredibly upsetting to me. I wish I could do something for you, but helplessness is a familiar feeling. I'm sorry, Xi-Xi.
I still remember when they passed that bill in 2025 that authorized ICE to deport immigrants to off-territory 'holding centers' in Cuba, which are historically known for being used as forced labor/torture camps, since they're technically not in US territory, so they're not breaking any laws if they do that!Yeah, there are a lot of parelells between current America and 1930's Germany. Former world power usurped by other, stronger powers and is trying to stay relevant. Workers of the country are Desperate for change, so much so that they elect a racist into power. Raids on the property and homes of minorities and sending them to concentration camps (Alligator Alcatraz). F*king Nazi salutes.
How the US depicts other countries isn't fair, either. They want to go to war with Venezuela, yet half of them don't even know where it is.
I should have moved to like, Australia or something... Now I'm scared for my fucking safety....
