I once had a discussion with a schizophrenic who told me college wrecked his mental health and he did not get the degree still. He blamed himself for it but for him college was equivalent to devote oneself to studying fully and dedicating your life to it. He was smart but this take was bullshit.
I had a pretty good GPA, maybe one of the best. But I knew making it through is almost impossible with the severe impact on my mental health. But I am not to blame. And it would be stupid to think I did not devote myself enough to studying.
College is about making it through. For many it needs luck. I worked too hard but with my pathologies (OCD) I really did my best. Even abusing addictive medication to make it through. One cannot say I have not tried hard enough.
College isn't about dedicating your life to it. Quite the opposite. You need to maintain a life outside college. It needs a balance though. I think my personality traits determined my failure. Combined with bipolar and psychosis. Barely anyone would have this done 1 semester. I did it 5. It was pure torture.
