Hi Cleo, I've noticed your conversation with Joannf in the thread. Do you know is she's successful caught the bus?
If you want to search for a member go to the search que in the top right corner and put the name in the member box. Her name is crossed off long ago. But, her posts are still alive and you can look through them.

Anybody wants to do CO method with sulfuric and formic acid ? How do you plan to do it?

This is a possible backup method for me. I wasn't fully decided on how to do it yet but I read somewhere of a younger man successfully ctbing using 2.5 L of fa and 2.5 L of sa in a bathroom. I haven't decided on which brands to use or exactly how many liters yet.

Sorry for the daft question again but what does a crossed off name mean?

When using charcoal in car, is it necessary to cover windows with something to prevent the co from escaping? Can the co go through glass? I know it can go through some walls.

Yes it goes through glass obviously. I don't know how long it takes to diffuse though. I think you should cover it for other reasons (writing a warning sign and stuff so only authorities open it). My bet is to test run and use a CO meter beforehand.

A meter is really not very practical for me at this time unfortunately. So I will cover up as much as possible and I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work. As long as the charcoal is embers, it should produce enough co I would think.

I am thinking about buying a generator as I'm worried that somehow I will stuff up the charcoal method. I was going to use several disposable bbq grills, to be "safe", but I am afraid I'll light them up but put them in the car too early or too late, and end up with either a massive headache and side effects, or there won't be enough CO2 emissions to do the job to completion. I absolutely don't want to survive, and deal with the shame, guilt and humiliation that would follow. I already hold more than enough to last several lifetimes. I'm just wondering, with a generator, would I be able to do it in my house? Like in my bedroom? I'm worried if I have it running in my car that the neighbours will complain about the noise, my house is more soundproof than my car. I would stop up the gaps around the door, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows if it's likely to work with a generator, to ctb in a room in a house? Or any other suggestions are welcome too.

Iam thinging of using 6 or 15 disposel bbqs with each 500 gramm of coal. Will use it in my bathroom. Closing the dor and window with tape so they wont be air circulation. Also ill ns using some ventilator to cifculate the grills do the coal still burning. What do you think will this be enough to kill me? And i life in the 2nd floor (fleet) is there a chance the neibours might die from the co wich might get trough walls? Dont wanna kill someone.

I wouldn't chance it, if you have neighbors around.
The charcoal method was the first method that I intended to use to CTB, but the more I learned, the more problematic I found the method to be.
If you live in an apartment, you'll likely need to figure something else out. Either use your car in a remote location or find another means of CTB. I don't completely trust the tent method... you'll need one hell of a tent.

I read that many people died in Texas as they used BBQ grills to heat their homes during the blackout. Honestly, I kind of envied their unintended peaceful exits

Maybe barbecue grills don't have what every outdoor propane heater I researched, which is an oxygen sensor, which shuts the machine off if the area oxygen goes too low. Has anyone found a machine without an oxygen sensor?

I found that outdoor heaters called Patio heaters don't have oxygen sensors, perhaps some, not all.

That's what I read too. What I don't understand is that these people probably had 1 or 2 grills in a single room and unfortunately died. I'm reading that people want to use multiple grills in a car or tent and are worried about failure, I really don't see how you could fail with that much charcoal and that small a space. I mean these people killed themselves accidentally, how can people
like us that plan this stuff out fail??

Hello.
Can one still commit suicide by Carbon monoxide poison in newer cars by attaching hose to muffler and venting into the car. I was told that there are special filters on cars now to prevent this.

If it can still be done, would this be painful? Would this be a good way to go?

Newer cars have catalytic converters which neutralize (I think) most if not all CO. Older cars pre-80's, won't have that problem.
I think the only pain is a headache (if you're awake)

Listen ya'll, who are fearful and wondering about methods: Go back in this thread to the beginning:, about page 4 they will get into discussion about method, pictures of materials with instructions of how to use them. As to the sticks of charcoal, it is said that Asian coal is much more toxic than American, which is produced differently. Along that thread somewhere earlier, is a discussion of where to get, and what kind of charcoal that is more efficient than the American one suggested, Kingsford. The asian coal is one of the top methods in the east. Research that. Asian coal, and the methods of burning and environment for success.

thinking about ctb by carbon monoxide in my bedroom, is it enough if I seal the room with duct tape, heat the briquettes on a frying pan until they're grey and then bring them into the room and go to bed? That's how I imagine Jonghuyn did it

The briquettes should have been lit up with fire and they should have turned white, before they are taken in the room.
I usually see people burning them, not just heating them.
Anyway the idea of going to bed while the CO fills the room it quite appealing

It depends on the size of your bedroom, and how much coal you should use. They recommend 2lbs of coal for a tent, so you'd need more for a bedroom. You should read the entire thread if you want to be successful, in the back 49 pages there is alot of information.

It work when the fire/burning stops apparently. When it looks like it's out, that's why people have accidentally died. They've brought dead barbecues inside their tents, etc. not realising anything is still coming off it.

I don't see why you would need 'one hell of a tent'. User on here called Zanaxx or something similar did it via a 2 man tent, just some charcoal. Her name was Callie and it was in the news.

just put packaging tape around doors/openings if you are worried.
Anyone know how much charcoal would be enough inside a two man tent and will any charcoal work.
People have accidentally died from one disposable barbecue in their, after they thought and it looked like it had completely finished burning. So maybe just put one or two extra in if you want to be safe. Also tape up the openings
My 'get out of life- safety plan' is 2-man tent, taped up any openings and about 2 disposable barbecues that have finished burning. Just getting the energy to do it and also planning where.

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct Asian charcoal? I'm going to order it but want to make sure it's the right one.

Any old disposable bbq will apparently work so I've heard people have died accidentally by bringing them into their tents

This is what someone recommended to me when I inquired asian charcoal, but I don't know too much about it. Some of the asian charcoal I saw had holes in it. I'll never forget the picture of a young woman in asia went to bed with a bowl of local charcoal in her little room, and was found dead the next day, she looked so comfortable and peaceful in the picture.
