Coconut coir

This topic isn't really cannabis specific, but coco coir has found it's place as a favourite medium in many cannabis grows, and I absolutely love it in the garden so it deserves a mention.

Coconut coir is made from the husks and fiber of coconut shells, a byproduct of the coconut industry. It's amazing as an amendment for soil, or even as a complete medium. Coco coir is perhaps the most wonderful advancement for growers since the invention of hydroponics. In fact, as an inert medium, when used on it's own it is technically classified as hydroponics- yet it's very forgiving and perfect for people new to growing. You can treat it basically like soil as long as you use coco coir specific nutrients, just water plants when they need it- and still get amazing results and yields almost on par with a hydroponic grow.

More advanced, but still includes all the basics for beginners: https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/ *I will mention that this learning resource recommends high frequency fertigation (HFF) always with runoff, but it is not necessary and I have seen many perfect grows with 0% runoff and fertigation every other day. HFF is a wasteful recommendation that is most likely a ploy to sell more nutrients. The very slight possible improvement of performance is not worth all the waste imo.

Clearly your grows absolutely suck, no matter how stylishly you try to film your shots and edit footage to avoid showing people all the nute burn, rot, and numerous other problems- and your voice makes me want to duct tape my ears shut and smash my laptop.

I had the same problem a few months ago and I found that just B1 vitamin stopped all that and now fall sleep no problem.

It absolutely can be done. There are multiple ways to get your own supply of seeds. Keep in mind that although this is a simple question, it has to do with breeding and such which is an extensive and fascinating topic.

The first way, is to buy seeds labeled "regular". Cannabis is a dioecious plant, meaning it has both males and females (and also hermaphrodites or 'hermies', which are seen as inferior and dangerous to the genetic integrity of the crops, and destroyed whenever seen). The male plants do not produce flowers, but instead have pollen sacks. These look like little balls that burst open when ripe and release pollen. The females produce buds/flowers, which is what growers are often after, as the flowers of the female plants are what produces the sticky resin and drugs.

When growing "regular" seeds, you will get a random number of males and females from seeds. With regs, there is no easy way to tell if your plant is M/F until they begin to show their sex by growing either buds or balls. It's totally down to genes and environment (hehe) the ratio of males to females that regular seeds will give you. Usually, growers not interested in breeding will rip up and kill any males they find, before they can release pollen- so they can harvest seedless buds, or sensemilla. However, if you leave the males to do their thing, they will pollinate all the girls and you will end up with buds that are full of seeds. That's the natural way.

The other way is to stress a female plant in certain ways, so that they mutate and begin to grow male sex organs, in order to pollinate themselves. These deliberately mutated females are not the same as hermies. This is called "selfing" a plant and will also give you pollen that can make buds full of seeds, but they will be what we call "feminized" seeds, which means that 100% of their genetics come from female plants, so the resulting seeds will always (99.99%) be females. This has many advantages.

The most common way to get fem seeds is to select a nice girl, and spray one of her buds with colloidal silver, or lightly dust with a silver dust compound until she mutates and grows pollen sacks. Lastly, I have seen people select a single branch from a nice female, and clone that in a separate room, in order to pump out fem seeds by selfing her. I have even seen people do it from a glass of water but I can't say much more about that as I'm not qualified. Also, you can keep a single strong male in a miniature 'bonsai' form separated from your females, and collect his pollen over some alfoil to store and use for years. Just sprinkle a little pollen on the buds of any girls you want to give you seeds.

Is it for an absolute beginner? If so, this site is great for beginners wanting to dip their toes in, https://www.growweedeasy.com/

Entry level, but also very extensive and thorough. Covers basically everything. Actually, when browsing through all the info on GWE it makes cultivating seem harder than it really is.

If you decide to use coconut coir (which I recommend) then this site is good for coco specific info https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/ but just ignore their fixation on "high frequency fertigation", or in other words, feeding a bajillion times a day. Many phenomenal growers give their plants nutrients by hand with a watering can once a day. No need for a fancy irrigation system w/digital timers etc unless you want to go that far.

Otherwise you can ask me anything and I'll be more than happy to help if I can. *EDIT* there's also grow forums like rollitup.org , but I would read up on the basics first before going there, there's some great growers and info on RIU but there can also be a lot of conflicting and bad info on there.

Trying this tonight. High CBD, basically no THC. It smells like mango. Fruity. Gonna smoke it and pray for some change in my sleep quality. If it does anything I will start growing with the generous tips provided by GentleJerk.

Never in my 16 years of smoking weed have I ever tried a "CBD" strain, let us know how it goes for you. I've tried some super strong indicas that have knocked me out before, and very sedating afghani hashplants with alot of CBD & CBN etc, but never a CBD only strain.

If for some reason it's not that good, try a classic indica next time if possible, like Afghan kush or White Widow. A little THC is always a good thing ime.

Gorgeous aren't they. I can say from following him and his business in Hawaii that the plants really are that purple, and good looking. He's got a thing for purple. As for the pics, they were uploaded by kristogrows over on another forum, and it looks like there might be some kind of camera effect, probably to liven up the colours and give it that ethereal smokey look. But they really are fluoro purple and green looking, and those are real plant pics.

Made with a press from blue cheese buds. The first run came out sort of buttery, the second run came out more like shatter. I prefer the first run, green buttery stuff. The second run is more honey coloured and shatters like glass when I take it out of the freezer, it's more panicky and anxious.

Tea?! Put that stuff in a bong my friend! Do you know how to roll a good joint? Cause it's not exactly easy for beginners just a heads up.

Ok so the tea didn't work because the good stuff isn't water soluble. It's fat soluble though, if your set on not smoking it, you'd be better off grinding it up and putting it in some melted butter or oil, and gently heat for at least 20 min. Slap it on some toast and see how you go.

I don't know if you guys have, like, gator beugs or something similar but honestly just make a bong and smoke it. Joints can be tricky to roll, and like pipes can be dry and harsh, I also think they're kind of wasteful. Edibles take a while to get the hang of how to make properly, and doses can be difficult to judge.

A bong on the other hand is simple, just make one and fill it with a little water enough to cover the lower part of the stem, chop the bud up with scissors and stuff some in the bowl (or cone piece as we wombats call it) put a lighter flame on it and suck. Takes a little practice at first but it's easy. Or you can buy one ready made.

I wish I could smoke weed. The problem I have is that I get super hungry and start gaining weight, That is why I stopped smoking a few months ago. If there was any cannabis on the market that did not have the hunger effect I would buy it in a heart beat.

Actually, I knew about the liposolubility issue with cannabis and used milk and water, or milk with high-fat chocolate. What's interesting is that the chocolate brew had tons of cannabis oil dots on the surface and the milk one had much less. It tasted awesome too but that's probably merit of the chocolate.

I will take your advice and use a bong if I try smoking. I faintly remember them being easy to use from my teenage years.

If it's your first time, I'd recommend taking only one or 2. I take 20mg of delta 8 (took one a few minutes ago actually) and it gets me fucked up

I took 1 a couple weeks ago. That was the first edible I had, however I have a weed addiction and its normal for me to smoke 4-7 joints/day
