Can you not be depressed but still come across the thought of dying?

Is there anyone else who is not clinically depressed anymore but the thought of dying has become a kind of compulsion? Like, hey, maybe I should kill myself? It's like you've gotten so used to the idea, it's just always there. And maybe there's something else that keeps it going. Like, dying is hard but you want to be free of life. Free of this fake simulation. Does anyone else feel that way?

yeah I understand, it's like things aren't bad enough for ctb to be worth the time and hassle to set up and get it over with but still bad in its own right

Yes, even outside of my depressive episodes. I wouldn't actively pursue CTBing, but it's been at the back of my head as the sole permanent solution to all of my problems. It's efficient, for the lack of better word.

Definitely not as uncommon as you might think. At one point while I was inpatient, I felt great, but i couldn't get the thoughts out of my head. If you are by chance looking for something that may help, the psychiatrist there said lithium is the only medication that specifically helps with suicidal ideation. There are pros and cons to the med of course, but it may be worth considering

i am not depressed!!! and my clinicians agree. i've tried a lot of antidepressants and even ECT to treat my "depression" but it turns out i'm not even depressed at all.

but… i do have schizophrenia and suffer heavily from difficult negative symptoms so idk i guess that counts for something >w<
