Can i CTB with a shotgun shell ?

For context, I live in Europe, and in my country obtaining a firearm is very difficult. I don't want to go through all the procedures just to get a permit.

A few years ago, a friend showed me his grandfather gun collection and gave me a few old shotgun shells, specifically marked "14mm – Gevelot." I'm mostly worried that the ammunition might be too old or too weak to actually do anything aswell.

I've heard people talk about firearms as a good method of suicide, and lately I've been struggling to keep it together, I'm just scared that the shotgun shell won't kill me instantly if eventually i find a way to actually detonate thing.

When you shoot a gun, the gasses propel the projectile(s) down the barrel. There is no other path they can take. Due to the confined space, there's a lot of pressure that is built in the barrel which propels the bullet out faster than the speed of sound.

Try putting a small seed in a straw and blow it out. See how fast it goes? Now put the seed on the table and blow it. It's not gonna move much. Certainly not in the direction you want it to go. You're not gonna be blowing it at a wall like you could with a straw. That's what trying to set off the shotgun shell on a table would be like. You're going to end up grievously injuring yourself. You can't do it with the ammunition alone. You have no idea where the projectiles are gonna fly if you just detonate it in the open air.

I don't recommend shotgun shells. If you don't die, you get permanent injuries.

Bullets/shotgun shells should remain useful for years considering they are kept dry. If they are extremely rusty, that may compromise the shell and cause it to blow apart in the chamber.
