Welcome to the biscuits thread. Post biscuits, discuss your favorite biscuits or meals involving biscuits, shit post about em, post recipes, whatever. Just post about biscuits. No limp biscuit please.

Just look at these golden masterpieces. Let the thin, crisp top and bottom layer be the gates to that soft, fluffy, beautiful inside.
Keep it golden

Herb and cheddar, absolute favorite for me.
Herb and cheddar son

Breakfast is fucking king, and there's so many things to choose from. Biscuits and gravy is up there for me. Surely to hate biscuits and gravy is to have no taste. Throw some hashbrowns, cheese, bacon, and eggs in there, and you have the breakfast of a champion. Fuck yeah, biscuits and gravy.
Best breakfast

They look good but in England a biscuit is something you dunk in your tea. These work well for this purpose:

I haven't made this but a chicken pot pie with biscuits replacing the usual pie crust sounds wonderful.

@AvaAdore Can confirm, pot pie with biscuit in place of crust is pretty great.

All these biscuits in the thread are supreme!

I remember American biscuits - but they look more like English scones, nice but different.
Here is a famous English biscuit, the Jammy Dodger.

And here is a scone. This one is a classic Devonshire or Cornish scone (it depends which goes on first, the jam or the cream, they are in constant conflict over who is right. FYI the jam goes on first never the cream, that's disgusting.)

I'll confuse things further by mentioning water biscuits:

This is an awesome breakfast!!!! I need to watch biscuit intake for health reasons but since having this down south in the MC years ago I'm hooked. I know what I'm working on this weekend in the kitchen.

Nope, jam first then cream!
But I mean come on now. Surely jam sits so much nicer on a bed of cream than vice-versa? I don't get the Cornish method. I really don't.

I mean I don't lose any sleep over it or anything. But I just don't get it.

Chocolate Hobnobs are some Category A biscuits, though I'm a custard cream man myself.

But wait: can anyone tell me the difference between a biscuit and a cake?

Oh the Jaffa Cake saga. I trained as an accountant, so I've heard all about it. HMRC have a webpage devoted to it: The borderline between cakes and biscuits.
That is amazing LOL

I was indeed referencing Jaffa Cakes, but that definition is not the one I meant.
The one I was thinking of is far simpler and I think, observably correct. If you have a pack of Jaffa Cakes. :pfff:

Edit: I stand corrected, the definition was indeed on that page:
"On going stale, a Jaffa cake goes hard like a cake rather than soft like a biscuit."

When stale, cakes go hard but biscuits go soft.

Tax experts can get very excited about really small points of contention. They probably thrive on it, all those rules to live by, lucky bastards.

If that is accepted, then wouldn't that make the biscuit in the OP actually technically a cake? :O

Also you can't dunk a Jaffa Cake in tea without it being an ultra-absorbant mess so yeah they're definitely cakes not biscuits.

In England a cookie is a specific type of biscuit like these, er, American-named ones:
