What's the best gift you have ever received/ given/ witnessed someone else get and what is the worst? (I know we're all going to say 'life' for that one... maybe...)

The best for me: I received a Teddy Ruxpin toy (a bear that blinked, opened and closed its mouth and read stories) for Christmas (when I was a child... obviously! )

The worst I witnessed (although it wasn't bad- just kind of misguided). Someone at work got a mug in a 'secret santa' with 'Live to Dance' on... but she couldn't dance at all. She was actually an amazing singer.

The best kift was a music keyboard that sampled and played voices! Got that when I was 5 from my now deceased grandparents.

The worst gift was a micro desktop drum kit that was basically unusable! My gf got that on recommendation from her friend

Arr, the keyboard sounds great. Did they record their own voices (could you even do that?) That would be a lovely keepsake to remind you of them.

No there was only one small sample which got overwritten a long time ago! But that would have been great! Thankfully I still remember what they sounded like to this day:)

best gift were a few figures (sanji, gudetama), some mint pocky, and my gf being able to stay at my house for a bit on my 15 bday :D

Tbh I don't rlly know any worst gift since I appreciate alot of things people gift to me

Best gift: A personalized calendar with photos of my cats!

Worst gift: I won't name anything! I'm not one to not appreciate someone being nice to me and giving me a gift! I appreciate it, even if their gift wasn't exactly a success!

worst: Chinese traditional women attire
Im agender (tbf closeted for my parents, but thats not the only issue), russian (with no Chinese heritage whatsoever, nor ever was in China), just cause I used to watch anime when i was a kid and ig my mother fall for this trend of white folks appropriating Asian culture on TT. Ended up needing to donate it cause if i tried to explain her that wearing such would be racist, id get bad consequences

Best gift.. my sister made me an entire book of mix cd's.. I got a few nice ones from my ex husband but I don't want to remember anything he did..

Worst gift.. a lot.. my sisters had their bday celebrated and I hardly ever did. So I didn't really get a lot done for me on my birthday growing up.. my parents always saw me as an afterthought and never really got me much growing up.. they got my sisters the world.. both of them.. they pretty much get anything they ever want whenever.. I guess my bad gifts was just never really getting anything.. recently.. current guy I half way date on a good day didn't get me anything for Christmas.. and if you try to bring it up he just gets defensive and doesn't apologize.. but it's cool I'm used to nobody ever apologizing to me for anything they do or being accountable for themselves and their actions.. just another projecting asshole in raging self delusion rationalizing their poor stupid behavior away..

I've not ever really got much in terms of presents from other people.. I've never really been given much of anything by anybody else.. everything I've ever had that's nice was got by by me.. by working my butt off.. one way or the other.. I stopped building a real life a long time ago or getting or acquiring nice things.. it always gets ripped to shreds and torn apart.. and nobody wants a bunch of target tank tops..


Thankfully I will never see my horrible family again and I refuse to associate with anybody that associates with them.. past present or future..

I have no desire to know them or have them in my life..

And im one foot out the door with the current dumbass.. he's never getting his shit together.. especially not with any woman..

He's blindly unaware the same my family used to be when they were in my life how soul crushing and annoying and depressing he is to be around and with..

When somebody gets me a nice thoughtful gift though I'm always appreciative.. at the same time for simple mandatory gift giving like work.. I'm not applauding a fish for swimming.. it's always some generic thing that has no personal attachment to me whatsoever.. but you know you say thank you and fake smile blah blah blah social graces..

I've hardly been given anything in the last decade.. my ex boyfriend got me some awful tacky watch for my birthday 4 years ago.. it was uglier than sin.. then again so was he.. I mean his soul.. his soul is ugly..

The dinner he took me to might have been nice but he ended up showing me photos of his ex wife the entire night and refused to eat dinner and just got drunk..

So yeah I've never been highly impressed by anybody's gift giving skills.. and really the cd mix book my sister made was actually a major sarcastic dig at me it turned out.. masked in pretend thoughtful..

Then again she's always been a gaslighting narcissistic little spoiled bitch..


So I guess I've never really had a real gift given to me that's been thoughtful without strings attached..

Every gift my family gave me comes with an assload of guilt trips.. they can't give anything unless they lord it over your head..

And by then what's the point.. my family is crazy levels of dysfunctional..

Like I start seeing a clinical psychologist after a horrifying pregnancy and get put on Zoloft.. my mom magically needs to be on Zoloft now..

Everything I do.. they do right after me.. they have no proofing thoughts in their brains.. and it isn't to flatter me or empathize with me.. it was to hurt me..

They really don't realize how sick they are.. she did however scare the crap out of my psychologist at the time and got an armchair diagnosis from her of borderline disorder..

She haaaated my family.. haaaated..

She's only mental health professional I respect. She's the only one to instantly see through all their insane stupid bullshit..

My birthdays are so bad.. I actually spent a birthday in her office at an appt rather than try to celebrate it..

Probably emotionally safer there than trying to attempt anything with my family or my stupid evil horrible ex husband..

She hated him too..

I mean she knows how awful they all are.. she haaaates theeeem..

She's always had their number..

Anyways I like holidays and things I just rather celebrate alone my own way.. I'm sick of people ruining it for me..

We can always do the cop out of anything my son ever made me was the best gift ever.. and sure it is.. but as far as real presents..

Not that those aren't real but people trying to give me something nice or try to seem like they are..

Anyways my birthday is coming and let's see how he messes this up. Which he will because he's a complete and total selfish dumbass..

Maybe the handwritten letter from an online friend when I was younger. The envelope had origami stars in it and the message was overall really sweet.
