An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.
Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
I'm also wondering what the point of having a private profile is when anyone can search up someone's whole post history by username either way. I've been harassed twice because of this loophole.
Yes I have that set. What I meant was that if someone finds just one of my posts, they can simply type my username in the search bar and find all the rest without having to go through my profile. I thought making the profile private would make it so any comment or post I made would have to be found naturally, and that a simple click would no longer give someone access to my entire history.

Oh I meant members themselves have harassed me using the search function, sorry for the confusion. Even though I have my profile set to only the people I follow.
Basically in the past if I have said something or reacted to something that didn't agree with someone, they would go back through my post history and link it in their own post as if to slaughter me and pick me apart, or they have been a bit pettier and just angry emoji'd a bunch of my past posts in rapid succession.
You see, I was under the impression that making my profile private would prevent this as I thought that was how they were getting such quick access to my entire existence on this site, but it doesn't help because of the search function loophole. So for me personally, making my profile private has done nothing for me.
But yea I hope you're right about guests not being able to use it, that would be worse for other reasons. Thanks for responding to me, I hope I cleared up what I meant this time. I'm going to try the internet search with username and site after I sign out just to test what you said, because that's probably a concern for some people too.
if it makes you feel any better you should be able to check if your account is safe from outsiders by not logging into the site, then you can see what they would see.
A lot of good tips here but some seem a bit much like I doubt anyone is using tools sophisticated enough to find out who you are because your using Chrome or Windows 10
Bottom line the problem is it is not hard for people to become a member, so it's all well and good to say that things are only viewable by members but in the end that means it is viewable by everybody. What it really comes down to is there's no safety on the Internet, so be careful what you post and say.

It's worth investigating the ability for people to scrape public facing information and parse the data for various purposes as opposed to having certain high volume areas of the forum with lots of revealing data private.

Yeah same, but I didn't give a fuck if he found me lol. It's good to learn how much of creep someone can be. He's probably reading this right now since even though he said he would stop I bet he still can't resist since he a fucking stalker.
Exactly, we are easy to find, and it takes zero effort to sign up. It's sad there is no truly safe place for us, but that is the reality of the internet. If people post direct suicidal intent they are at risk.

It might not be truly safe, but at least we have access to the info on this site, and the support of the community, I doubt you'd find somewhere else like this place on the clear web

Don't get me wrong. This place and the people in it are awesome. I just don't think anyone should get too comfortable and think we are in even the slightest way shielded from the outside world while here.

This is a public forum.
There is no privacy if you post personal information: anyone can view it, that is the ethos of this site, otherwise it would be visible to members only, which it is not, as has been debated ad nauseam.
Every single thing you post on open forum can be recorded to use in any way that anyone on the internet deems legitimate.
Thus, you are solely responsible for every single word and image you post, regardless of the context.

I don't disagree. My statement is not an opinion, it's merely a statement of fact, regardless of what I personally feel.
Edit: I see soooo many posts in open forum where people express things that as far as I can tell, they seem to think should be private, it makes me question whether people understand just how public this all is.
Why do people baulk at having them selves quoted off site when they publish their opinions for all to see?
The corollary of privacy is, after all, what you are willing to disclose to the public.
It's worth investigating the 1) ability for people to scrape public facing information and parse the data for various purposes as opposed to 2) having certain high volume areas of the forum with lots of revealing data private.
Hi I'm a bit confused as to your two points there. Is there a difference? I've added numbers where I'm confused.
Sleepy headed here and would appreciate if you could clarify.

I can see how that is unclear. I was pointing out that privacy policies can be implemented for the highest volume areas of the forum while leaving the contested resources and other areas as they are, and the reason is because the highest volume areas of the forum also contain the most personally identifying information.
Good information, I don't use social media myself. Thats what the pro lifers try to find personal information for, to search you out on FB,twitter etc. They are aware alot of people use it and it can be used against them. I guess its upto each of you what you think is safe and what isn't.
On a side note, if you look a few posts under OP you will see a post by Bipolarguy(the guy who doxxed a member, who then CTB and he joined fixthe26, had various accounts claiming different illnesses). you will get an idea of the kind of realistic and manipulative things they might post, its not always easy to spot people that are like that!

I've been roaming this website without VPN for three days. Would it make a difference if i start using VPN now? They can still track me down if they look thoroughly?
It loads anything on SS super slow, even refreshing the page of the forum takes forever. And then often I receive the error ''connection timed out'' and I have to close the browser, open it again and log in again on SS. I refuse to use SS on other browser since I think I'm tracked by google on other browsers for some reason (even if I use VPN).
They refuse to take any responsibility for the deaths of their loved ones, who usually are here because of their parents controlling people in the first place. Most of them can't even admit they could have just put on filters to block their children from using any website. And so they developed a savior complex to make themselves feel better about their mistakes.
Some of them just have the savior complex and no attachments to grieve for.
