I don't know where this government is going. From cutting assistance and funds to baby bonus. Seriously!! Who wants to have a baby under this government?

I'm sorry, "financial incentive?" Are you fucking joking?

You know what's gonna happen if you bribe people to have kids? People are going to have children literally only for the benefits and will cease to care about the child past that point.

Obviously, that means more child neglect, more depression and you get the point.

Society is becoming stupider by the minute.

Right! I don't know what's their plan but I hope people think before they have more babies.

I NEVER EVER voted for orange face and NEVER EVER would.

In fact, I think that orange #47 should be banned like a bad food additive!

If ANY government on this planet wants more humans, at least as far as I am concerned give everyone health/dental care, housing and proper food and also employment.

I am 69, and I mention this ONLY because one of the reasons that I never had kids. or at least yet! is economics first and foremost. I started out homeless and hungry at 18 and kids was NOT on my radar at all; it was surviving at best.

A society CANNOT have its populace living in tents and filing bankruptcy over medical issues and at the same time a government wants its citizens to procreate more? REALLY?

Give humans DECENT living standards and the rest will fall into place, a onetime shot of a measly 5K or whatever, is NOT going to do squat.

Walter

Orange face is a global joke and disaster.

That's likely the point. They're not aspiring to create thriving happy families; they want their next mini factory drone who will help fund Trump's next golf tournament, no matter how it has to happen.

$5000 does not even pay for the hospital bill of giving birth. 🙄

I am in the same mindset of South Korea. No kids to further the agenda of the 1%. Let the economy collapse in on itself.

Just be all natural and don't go to the hospital.

People already get money for kids (child tax credit, child support payments) so just more of the same.

If I had a lot of money, I would pay people not to have children.

The tax credit does not NEARLY offset the cost of a child. Not even close. Also, giving birth at home is dangerous without some medical knowledge or a lot of research. Most people are not equoped for it. I would be interested to see statistics on how many home births end up going to the hospital.

They want to push the poorly planning and impuslive type over to have a kid. Any reasonable person knows that $5k is NOTHING these days, especially in regards to a kid.

It's just another sign on why governments around the world (yes, it's not only the US) get pushier about people having kids. They need their cheap factory drones. Their working class. They don't care about what enviroment these kids will grow up in. Now the way technology is going it is becoming less and less important to have an educated workforce. That's why you see cuts in education everywhere. Educated people are a hassle.

You see, the thing with AI is that while it makes big strides, it will take a long, long, long, long time before AI will live in anything except a server somewhere. It won't be able to do manual labor in a practical way for decades. These are just limitations of the physical world - power supplies, etc.. It's not easy or cheap to build a robot. It's impossible to build a robot with any kind of human-alike dexterity and flexibility. This just won't happen even in mid-term.

So the factory drones that get born will have put a screen in front of them from the get go, will get used to AI deciding everything for them. People will work in factories with an AI manager looking over their shoulder 24/7 and just telling them what they need to do and know. Maybe even make a game out of it with rewards and everything. These people basically will not know what they're doing, they'll just follow AI instructions, also making them completely replacable. Amazon warehouses already have worked that way for a while and it is very efficent. Every mid-level job that needs some education is usually not bound to the physical work and in the fantasy of these psychopaths, will be done by AI directly. The high level jobs will be reserved for the elite.

That's the world we're going towards, fun isn't it.

Ugh I was disgusted when I read about this yesterday too. forget not offsetting cost of childbirth. The cost of daycare alone is astronomical unless a parent can afford to stay home. Why don't they do something useful instead to provide more daycare options?

Plus, I personally don't see it as a bad thing if the birth rate goes down. I know long-term it can lead to problems but thinking about anything long-term these days seems kind of useless on this planet.
