Wtf is wrong with the NHS and these GPs??? Turns out the NHS doesn't deal with the National Autistic Society for grants. So I've wasted about 6 months of this shit with no help from them.
A new GP has said they can use the old forms and send them off but now it's starting all over again. All I do is research and analyse shit and it all turns to shit in the end. What the fuck is the point. Ends up with sensory overload and having to blast Linkin Park songs to try and drown out the other noises.
Just get a job, you don't like people that's why you can't progress, you should of been "this" or "that", once you get fixated you can't deviate, you're too sensitive, you went to the gym too much and have to stop othewise you'll injure yourself, don't eat that you'll get fillings, don't eat that you'll get diabetes,

Fuck all this shit. It's fuxkjng non stop.

Hey Throwaway. I feel you.

My boyfriend is having to wait six months for an autism diagnosis from the NHS, seems like it is another area of chronic underfunding?

Myself, I have just resigned to the fact; I have autism. An official diagnosis won't mean much when I am a corpse in a year or two.

Might, I ask, why are you trying to get a diagnosis? What is happening champ

I need to know and have the information. I'm not doing anything else at the moment. The last gp had no idea and I pretty much had to do a case study on myself and show him all the documents and papers. Now it's back to square one again.

Is this for an application you are doing? And I am sorry this is taking so long, do you frequently get passed around by GPs? What have they asked you?

I had a similar experience with the NHS, I had 3 different "Mental Health Experts", Poke and prod me. Asking we questions that they would fill out on a questionnaire, and every time we got near to finishing it, there would be some issue, and the Doctor would end up being transferred or quitting, forcing me to start the whole process over again.

It was some of the worst years of my life.

I had to wait over 2 years to get a diagnosis. Now that I have it I have absolutely no support from the NHS. I'm forced to work until I'm so exhausted I have a complete meltdown, and go non verbal. It is a complete joke how autistic people are treated in this country, no wonder why the suicide rate among autistics is so high.

I'm really lucky compared to other people, I got a diagnosis in a couple months and then the council paid for me to be home schooled. Its pretty amazing my teachers come to my home and any outing or trips are funded by the company. I also got to have cahms for 2 years which was mostly a good experience for me.

I did all the applications for the NHS and the national autistic society but it's all been thrown out. Have to start over. I had a locum because my last GP retired and I never go to the Gp (last time was when I got cancer). It's just stupid the amount of things you have to do in order for them to do something.

That happened with the locum I had. Was dealing with him for about 8/9 months.

Well wasted half a year already. Probably is going to be a long haul thing again…

I had to wait a year to get mine from the NHS, they denied that I had Autism at first, it's only after a professional sat down with me and scored me the points did I get the diagnosis. I really don't want to have to go through it again. It's a lot harder to get a diagnosis these days from what I'm reading.

I need to speak with the GP because I studied everything on the NAS - how they did it, professionals, routine, etc. now it's been completely thrown out and I don't know which organisation deals with it.

What do you mean by points? How did they do it?

I got it wrong before it was a very long time ago but it was part of the hospital and the NHS, two ladies did the assessment. I was asked to perform certain tasks in a room; after that they graded the points and I got the diagnosis Asperger Syndrome.

Asperger Syndrome got lumped into autism over a decade ago since its basically the same thing, there's no seperate diagnosis for it anymore.

What tasks did you have to do? Was it paper written or tasks with objects? I really don't understand what they are going to as I only read what the NAS would do which would be a 4 hour talk and questions.

If you want to go private and are (potentially) willing to go to Glasgow for it, check these guys out:

I can't give you an official rating of them as I am still in the process of getting it sorted out. I had an online virtual assessment planned for this month but I wasn't able to attend it so I had to move it to next month. Theres a fee of about £300 for your first assessment and then from there they will refer you. Because its virtual you'll still be able to do it in England.

As I said, I can't give you a rating of how they are just yet, but they are private so it won't take as long and they specialise in it. I've been assuming they will be able to fast track a diagnosis. We'll see if thats accurate later on.

  • Cost: £390
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Outcome: Report with recommendations, clarifying the need for further evaluation
  • Led by an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Screens specifically for Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Appointment is counted towards the official Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment process if a full assessment is recommended.

I can't remember that and I don't think NAS does diagnosis, they're a charity

I'm London based so this isn't happening. Plus £400 don't have. Too much debt at the moment and scraping by trying to get it down. That's seems quite straight forward - I don't know why there aren't any like that in England (all of them are thousands of pounds.
I can't remember that and I don't think NAS does diagnosis, they're a charity
Anyways they can't do it. I was basically chasing a dog bone for 6 months and it was just a waste of time as had to do the GPs job.
