Re Midazolam, I've seen it available on EM.

Anyone have experience taking it ? At 150mg OD, it seems the most effective benzo, short term.

I'm wondering if that 5min timeframe window is reliable or can overshoot, given the first SN symptoms can start to occur soon after that mark, and certainly after 10 minutes elapsed

What is the source of this quote?

This is SUPER interesting! With a fast-acting benzo, the SN project could come close to a peaceful death like N.

Onset of action: Within 5 min (IV), 15 min (IM), 20 min (oral)

Midazolam is very common anaesthetic in medical procedure. Benzos don't have "Overdose".

I have no idea where you brought that screenshot from but it's serious misinformation. And this is a 2019 thread (OCD Quarky).

Sorry, I usually precise the source
The "guide to a self-chosen humane death" book (2006)
It has a concisely written chapter on benzos. Not overly exhaustive but straight to the point, giving a favourite long and fast acting choice preference with some reason

Was aware it serves as an element in anaesthetic procedures, but that it's also recognised more for its sedation effect than for maintaining full anaesthetic properties against strong pain (death sentence debate with inmates awakening, Midazolam pointed at as faulty), which I guess would not be a concern since SN essentially causes discomfort, not pain

Quarky, source at your turn also please
Disappointing if time is not oral !
If it were valid, it would have been more simple to sequence than with Diazepam, less chance to miss to catch inserting SN intake after first sleepiness signs, at worse not getting the desired effects in time

I hope this book does not contain too much misinformation, because it has interesting stances and developments not found elsewhere. A good complement read to the likes of the PPH

True, just looked it up. I (wrongly) thought before that a certain amount of Midazolam would induce sleep 5 minutes after ingestion.

Midazolam is very common anaesthetic in medical procedure. Benzos don't have "Overdose".
But Midazolam is a fast-acting benzo. I would assume you fall asleep earlier with 10 benzo sleeping pills rather than with 1 pill? You mean, you can't succesfully CTB without a fatal substance (e.g. SN)? So using only an "overdose" amount of benzos will not kill you, because it lacks a fatal substance

That's not "OD" (dangerous dosage).

I can't really answer that because benzos are not that clear cut. Usually higher dosage without previous tolerance means stronger effects, not quicker onset. Longer duration of effects has been observed. Benzos have several functions , not just sleep.

It is possible for a person to taking 1 pill to fall asleep within 40m, while taking 2 pills they will fall asleep within 25m, for example. But that's stronger effects not quicker onset per se..

In France, Midazolam has been in the news lately. A doctor is being prosecuted to use it for end of life means on elderlies, I'm guessing much like morphine as a slow palliative care ? Anyway, it's also discussed that this benzo now get loose restrictions so doctors can prescribe it to home patients (I'll try to bring articles later)

Unless you vomit after passing out which could easily happen.

Articles I promised. I selected a couple ones that give a complete overview of the full story. Small but unexpected progress / victory in the right direction, in this corner of the globe !

Initial drama story, derived from the national press agency.

The doctor got finally released this March.

For those people who are fragile, with a precarious physiology, midazolam is really the product of choice, as safe as it is effective. It is a product that gives the doctor visibility over his treatment, and which can be taken in a simple way, especially by the oral route. It is safe to use. In my experience, this is probably the least harmful product I have used. The other tranquilizers in its class do not provide the same benefits at all.

Happy ending. In 4 months, Midazolam bound to hit the pharmacies for general practitioners, to accompany dying patients at home. Maybe it will help the black market?

HAS experts recommend using midazolam injectable as a first-line medication, which is currently not allowed to leave the operating room, where it is used for anesthesia. If it turns out to be ineffective or unsuitable, two antipsychotics can be used: chlorpromazine and levomepromazine. On Monday, the Ministry of Health said that the Medicines Agency would soon change the indications for midazolam.
At first, a small amount will need to be injected. Depending on the patient's reaction, the doctor will gradually increase the dose until he loses consciousness. The act is delicate: an excessive dose injected immediately could cause the death of the patient. On the contrary, if the patient shows signs of improvement, it will be possible to go back by stopping the injection.
...
"No one had yet dared to write such recommendations, it does not exist abroad. We hope that this will unblock the situation", insists Dr Pierre Gabach.

IV suggested for optimisation ? Sigh. Can't fool OCD Quarky !

I also dug an official 50 pages report of the french national health authority (not newspapers), which describes the recommended procedures for sedation. If I extract any further meaning, I'll share

Isn't that dangerous? You could vomit in your sleep then. Or am I wrong
Vomiting after benzo knock out and a lethal dose (of almost everything) is fine. It ain't pretty, but it is lethal, and one won't feel a thing.

My personal plan is to take sublingual powdered zolpidem 15 minutes before SN. I know it takes 20 to 25 minutes, so I'll faint/sleep 5 minutes after taking SN.

A friend, which I discovered afterwards was a junkie, surprised me on the phone, shooting (IV) Zolpidem live. It only took a couple seconds to be told an unreal story with pigs, then being sung nonsense, with silly laughters. It still took some few minutes to KO. Very impressive memory. Made me fed up cause no pre-announcement, wasn't understanding where the behavioral change was coming from.
...that would have made a pretty foolish tribute thread !

Did she try to CTB with SN or did she only took Zolpidem and nothing else?

It wasn't CTBing, just "recreational" (god), a habit amongst many. Where credit is due (only some support to break the vicious circle proved to be fundamental), some serious battle addiction was won later, demonstrating realism and motivation.
