My narcissist idiot dad lives in his own little universe is in denial and says I'm completely normal despite every professional saying otherwise. Ironically I think there's something wrong with him.

Mine accepted that I was autistic but they wouldn't accept that I have very real limitations. They did everything they could to force me to get two STEM degrees against my will, and they wouldn't stop pushing me to date.

My mother is most likely autistic and I got it from her, she didn't think once about getting me a diagnosis as a kid and only confirmed my guestion late in life, whether I had it

My mom cried when it was confirmed I had autism when I was a toddler. I can see why, autism is a curse and people with autism are 3 times more likely to ctb than a regular person.

my mother was in denial about everything that didn't appease her own ego, and that type of personality trait/parenting can do insane damage.

explains why almost everyone she knows currently doesn't like her/nor talk to her.

Yes, my parents are in denial. I show many signs of being autistic and yet they will deny it to their last breath.

once in a while my mom'll say something like "look me in the eyes, you're not autistic" and then get all creeped out when I look her in the eyes "too intensely". I can either focus on eye contact or not idk what other option there is. I've never even said I'm autistic, she just feels the need to point out that I'm not when she notices symptoms of autism? I do get asked if I have autism or told that I have autism or assumed to have autism a lot. I used to say no I'm just Like That, but having looked at the symptoms I prolly am. or if I'm not I have a ton of traits that align with it exactly. idk

I struggled particularly during my adolescence with eating issues, depression, insomnia, and low self-esteem.

I suffered and went through situations that still affect me to this day.

In my case, it isn't autism, but I understand you.

My parents always ignored me; they constantly sought ways to avoid taking responsibility for me.

I always had to find my own solutions and survive on the little they gave me.

I suppose I never mattered to them; they always blame me for everything that happened to me, calling me ungrateful, a manipulator, or simply an idiot to the point where, if I feel bad or don't want to say or do anything, it angers them or leads to them berating me.

I have to stay silent, endure it, and bottle up the pain of what I lived through at such a young age.

I kinda had a similar experience to yours but mine was with my classmates back in elementary and junior high school. Some of them pointed out that there was something different or "off" about me. When they told my mom about it, instead of accepting that I am autistic...she just straight up told me to not act "weird" again.
My mom cried when it was confirmed I had autism when I was a toddler. I can see why, autism is a curse and people with autism are 3 times more likely to ctb than a regular person.
I'm so sorry you went through that, especially knowing your mom cried when you're diagnosed. Honestly it really is a curse right from the start since society is built mostly for neurotypical people, and we're often the ones left behind :(
Yes, my parents are in denial. I show many signs of being autistic and yet they will deny it to their last breath.
Same except my older siblings, they also think that I'm autistic and they're not in denial but they dgaf

My mom's just like yours, yet almost all of her friends/relatives like to talk to her. They even seek her out for help or advice. But whenever she finds out that I'm acting "weird," she straight up tells me that I'm embarrassing HER.

I'm older this stuff wasn't diagnosed then. One of my cousins had more obvious symptoms and was treated as adhd.
But I was awkward and odd and they must have been confused.

you remind me of myself when I was still denying my autism. Everyone expects eye contact which sucks, it feels uneasy when I give them eye contact then things will get awkward right after.

I get why you're confused esp when so many of your traits line up with autism. You don't have to figure everything out right away but getting a diagnosis from a psychiatrist feels fulfilling according to other autistic ppl

I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. Parents are supposed to be the first ones to help their children, yet they do the exact opposite which infuriates me. they act like the world revolves around them, getting disappointed that the child they envisioned in their own narcissistic minds didn't turn out the way they wanted.

It is their fault for not trying to understand you. I rlly understand what you mean about having to bottle everything up just to get through it. I feel you:(

I may look into getting a diagnosis sometime, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle since I already get accomodations in college for adhd and I'm an adult so it'd be a Whole Ordeal.

Yeah, they do. I mean there's a chance I don't have autism, because many symptoms overlap with other disorders.

But they completely deny I'm different. My brother has autism (Aspergers) and I don't have any anger related issues so that makes me somehow not autistic. They say I'm not like my brother at all, but we actually are very similar. It's so hypocritical, because they say themselves that autism is a spectrum. I experienced a lot of stuff he experienced.

I understand that makes you even more suicidal. I felt like no one understood who I really am and it was just worse when my parents don't even understand me.

Eventually I gave up on diagnosing myself for autism. I have issues with sensory overload and I can't do anything about it. School was really hard when I was younger because of this, because I couldn't take all the noise.

I don't know your situation and how your parents are. I think that if you get a diagnosis from a psychologist, your parents probably will accept it. But again, I don't know ur situation.

I might be able to help with giving some advice depending on what issue.

Good luck.

Lemme tell you something about my parents, they are ignorant as hell who believes in superstitions, AI bs and other ppl's bs. They even believe that going to a psychologist is considered SHAMEFUL so there's no chance that they're going to accept it.

One time when my dad forced me to tell him about my suicidal thoughts...he just straight up told me to read the bible. They drain me mentally and won't even try to understand me.

I'm at my lowest right now and I'm open to any advice. Thank you.

Okay, I see. Well you just have to accept that they won't understand you. I know that's really shit, but you can't change it and I wouldn't try to change it either. It will just drain you even more.

For autism related issues, I have a few stuff I can tell you.
I don't know with what you're exactly dealing right now buttt

For social anxiety, you really need to practice. When I was younger I couldn't even talk with my aunts and uncles. Eventually my parents forced me to talk with others.
I don't know how bad it is for you, but it generally is important to maintain some type of social contact.

Go out and try to ask something to someone for example. I know it's not that easy, you will struggle.

I really struggle with overstimulation and sensory overload. I get a headache easily just from being somewhere noisy like in a city. I struggled with this alot when I went to school. Eventually me and the school agreed on only going for a couple of hours a day to school. I got way less headaches and it also improved my mood alot.

If you get overstimulated quickly there's something called wide angle awareness.
Wide-angle awareness is a panoramic mental and visual state where you soften your gaze to process your entire 180-degree field of view at once instead of fixating on a single point.

basically try not to focus on a single thing. I did this alot and It got me overstimulated really quick.

If you have like a hyperfixation, I would avoid talking about it people that just simply don't wanna hear it. I used to code alot and when I tried to talk about it with people it always went wrong. The best way is to find people that have the same hyperfixation. Online communities are the easiest, but ideally in real.

The times where I felt the best is when I had a routine. So I really do recommend that. I know it's very hard if you're depressed.
With depression I can't give much advice, because I'm struggling with it myself.

You should try to go to a psychologist if you can.

Good luck again
stay strong
