Hello, I was wondering if modern cars can give away the position youre in to police, once they are warned of your absence. Can they trace you? Is there anyway to remove this feature if it exists, or should I just buy an old car?
GPS is the obvious one, but id remove it. The thing is Idk if theyre built-in in some modern cars.

Depends on the brand
They'd also have to go to corporate, talk to the head of the company and see if they'll give you permission

If your car has a data plan or specific features like automatic emergency call it is indeed trackable. However it is very unlikely because the police has to get a court order first and that can take some time.

With a car it is the same like your smartphone, if you shut if off complete it is not trackable anymore. Disconnecting your car battery will do that for you.

I think what others said is true, especially for newer vehicles, especially those with GPS and other technological systems installed in them. The convenience of modern technology is like a double-edged sword, it can make life easier for us, but also hinder us when we have certain goals (such as ctb'ing and not wanting interference). Personally, I have an old car and I'm a bit leery at which car I'd get when my old car breaks down or becomes too old.

I believe if they have your liscence plate they can see which cell towers it has pinged off of and get a general area, but maybe not specifics. Other than that I'm not sure. GPS cars would probably be even easier trackable.
