  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I know it's the last organ to die, but I haven't seen any reports or anything about the time required for hypoxia to reach complete brain death. Does anyone know anything about this or an approximate time?

I don't know, to overcome the vegetative state, coma and so on, I know it depends on each person but something approximate to have an idea.

Extremely off topic, but seeing the Britney Spears profile pic with your username screwed with my head. I am very used to the blond woman from Game of Thrones as your pfp and I thought I was in a parallel universe for a second.

On topic wise: I tried looking it up and it barely lead to anything. Most researchers are concerned about brain damage when it comes to hypoxia, not complete brain death.

Yes, I'm a mix of both, and I love them and I identify with them, haha. I know it causes a bit of dissociation and confusion. The Britney Targaryen. Well, thank you very much. The truth is, I think it's a mystery, and it depends on each person.

It's the best. She's now living happily and accepting who she is. She deserves it, and she's sending those who hurt her to hell.

We have evidence that a person appears to stop breathing and be "dead" after about 40 minutes with SN. However, it is difficult to confirm brain death. Reading through some sources, the estimate is 10-20 without air leads to permanent, irreversible brain damage and most likely death. So, very rough estimate, 60 minutes from ingestion of SN. I would still plan for a few hours undisturbed however.

Thank you, in any case I think that cardiac arrest or cardiorespiratory arrest could occur before then, which would help in the process of brain death, but I'm not sure.

I would say with 0 oxygen it's 10-15 minutes. With SN we know that oxygen levels drop to 60% probaly lower later. That is lethal but probably is enough for the brain to keep basic functions up in a coma. This is not a medical advice or scientific proof.

Brain death following SN ingestion is secondary to hypoxia caused by severe methemoglobinemia. Once methemoglobin levels exceed approximately 70–80%, oxygen delivery to tissues—including the brain—is critically impaired.

Loss of consciousness typically occurs within 20 to 40 minutes after ingestion (sometimes sooner depending on dose, individual physiology, and presence of antiemetics), due to hypoxic effects on the central nervous system.

As for complete brain death, the data is less precise. From existing case reports and forensic literature, irreversible brain damage can begin within 4–6 minutes of sustained anoxia, but full clinical brain death (cessation of all brain activity) is generally thought to occur between 20 and 40 minutes of continuous critical hypoxia—assuming no medical intervention and continued progression of oxygen deprivation.

Because the heart may continue to beat for a time after consciousness is lost, brain death often lags behind cardiac arrest. However, in fatal SN cases without reversal, the timeline from ingestion to death is typically under 90 minutes, with irreversible neurological injury occurring well before that point.

Sources are sparse due to the nature of the subject, but data from toxicology, emergency medicine, and rtd literature all roughly align on these figures.

I love your words, thanks gothbird🫶. It's true that there isn't much documentation on the estimated time of brain death, but that's why it's best to give yourself as much time alone as possible and follow the protocol as best as possible.

Appreciate that! Clear documentation on brain death timing is limited, and what we have is mostly extrapolated from emergency medicine and autopsy reports.

Time, privacy, and strict adherence to protocol are essential, for sure!
