I have never really used mainstream media, so you are correct. You must be new to Mainstream media.
UK users: Due to a formal investigation into this site by Ofcom under the UK Online Safety Act 2023, we strongly recommend using a trusted, no-logs VPN. This will help protect your privacy, bypass censorship, and maintain secure access to the site. Read the full VPN guide here.
Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.
This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.
In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

You are so right. But news is never written this way. Every reporter has an axe to grind. If they really had a strong case against this website, they would be able to make it in a neutral tone and let the facts speak for themselves.
I agree.Also what I don't get is this:
View attachment 80489
From the article: "Later, a site member in Leeds, England, would ask in his parting words for the forum to be shut down. "Please do your best in closing that website for anyone else," Joe Nihill, 23, implored in a suicide note."
So I don't know what to make of this. It honestly feels fake but then again who knows. I just wonder why would this person say that in their suicide note especially even though they still killed themselves with the information they found here? It makes no sense.
the product has already become really hard to find compared to before. It used to be available everywhere online y'know. Now, not anymore. They mentioned SN (not by name though). Hope this doesn't cause increases regulation of the product.
Yeah there's only a few sites that sell it (and some won't sell to individuals). But this could lead to those last few being changed if the story picks up a lot of coverage.the product has already become really hard to find compared to before. It used to be available everywhere online y'know. Now, not anymore.
Very well put.''Look how saviour like we are because we called out on people who put an end to their suffering and we invaded the privacy of two guys to the point that anything could happen to them now!''
We are at the end of 2021 but most people still act like primitive apes over others who make their OWN decision to take their OWN life because they are suffering too much and don't want to be used as cheap labour anymore. Where is the ''muh body, muh choice?'' Y'all screamin' this saying unless it's about abortion or suicide.
What worries me the most is how they invaded the privacy of the two admins, who probably I assume took their privacy to the extreme considering what they got into, their locations still being found. It's scary, if even they were found that means there's no privacy at all on the internet.
The way they go against us, instilling fear and anxiety, being aggressive against us by invanding our privacy and not more, it shows to me how ''caring'' and ''good'' they are to those who suffer. If life was a sacred gift as they say, why do they have to do this and silence and destroy us like this? Something doesn't connect.
In that bubble of joy of theirs, they don't know about things such as ''homelessness'', ''unemployment'' , ''financial insecurity'' , ''death of loved ones'' , ''failed relationships'' , ''trauma from abuse'' , ''bullying'' , ''suffering'' etc. No, they see life as sunshine and rainbows and have to shove it down everyone's throat at all costs.
Also the minors who used this, I agree with a comment from above, where were the parents? You don't need more than a neuron to realize that the age verification can be surpassed easily about everywhere nowadays. Gotta love how most parents always blame outside factors for what happens to their kids, but never themselves.
My misanthropy levels are too high I need to stop.
If you'd read their post you would've seen that this is directly from the article. I don't see how Circles posting it here makes any difference. There are ways of phrasing things...Why would you post this with all the crap that's going on today?
Honestly, I'm just so overwhelmed with everything that is going on with the site today and the fear that I may lose the only outlet I have I can't function. I apologize if I offended anyone. If you'd read their post you would've seen that this is directly from the article. I don't see how Circles posting it here makes any difference. There are ways of phrasing things...
This is exactly my response to reading that article. I am quoting it because it's clear people are reading everything posted here, and I may as well reiterate such an important point.(I just skimmed through for a few seconds)
So because a site provided the information that an obviously already depressed and vulnerable 17 year old sought out to kill themselves they want to end the site? Can they not see people will kill themselves anyway? If it's not this it will be another site. Censorship doesn't work. I am not pro-suicide. It's a shame it exists and I certainly don't want teenagers killing themselves but we don't live in Should-Land. Suicide is a reality and people want and deserve to kill themselves in as safe and painless a way as possible.
If you take away access to such information, people will attempt to kill themselves in dangerous and excruciating ways which may pose a danger to the general public and may also traumatize them. The suicidal may also harm themselves in terrifying ways and not even die - which is a worse position than where they started. This is a horrific risk that people shouldn't be forced to take - if the society can't help people, if it creates structures and situations where people feel the need to kill themselves and neglects to care for the desperate and vulnerable then safe and reliable ways to commit suicide should not be hidden.
The suicidal should not be silenced and forced into the underground because as we've come to learn there is no real group called "The Suicidal" - we are everyone. And discouraging discourse and sharing emotions just stunts society's growth into understanding how to help and understand people who are suicidal.
Just like in the 60s when they tried to encourage ignorance with teenagers and sex. We saw how that went. Like making abortions illegal, people will do it anyway and in dangerous ways if you force ignorance upon them. You can't hide the truth.
RIP to your son - I am so sorry for your loss but this is not the way.
I agree. We all here by our own accord and no one elses !For the record:
To my family/anyone who knew me, An Garda Síochána(police force in my country), the media etc., if you find my SS account post-ctb you do NOT have my permission to use my case to spread such misinformation and nonsense about this site or the issue of suicide in general. I am here of my own free will and it is my firm belief that any adult who is of sound mind has the right to choose whether or not to end their own life and therefore should have access to the information provided by this site.
This is exposure that we do not need.![]()
Where the Despairing Log On, and Learn Ways to Die (Published 2021)
It has the trappings of popular social media, a young audience and explicit content on suicide that other sites don’t allow. It is linked to a long line of lives cut short.www.nytimes.com
They should've linked to the site instead of posting that cucked shit at the end.
Suicide is hotThey might as well have posted this. The approval queue is exploding.
Suicide is soooo sexy you wanna kill yourself so badSuicide is hot
I think I waited around that long to get approvedI feel this whole site should go private as of nowno viewing content unless you're a member. And make a waiting period before applying for membership and being approved. Like five days or something.
Damn, it was like a day and a half for me. Ok! 10 days thenI think I waited around that long to get approved![]()
Wise words as always Rain. It's interesting how hard they come after us, a website that's obviously addressing an adult audience but they don't question the parents, which didn't properly supervise their own children when it came to their internet activity and therefore neglecting them in these regards. I didn't know it's our job to do actual parenting but I've said it over and over again. People that turn out to be underage get banned immediately and here is the deal - children whose parents monitor their activity and use parental tools don't end up on this website. I'm not even gonna address the intense brain gymnastics they've exercised when they came to the conclusion that based on singular cases in which parents failed to take care of their children properly, the entire website consisting of 20'000 adult members is therefore predatory and dangerous. It's such a bad faith conclusion of the purpose of this forum and the community around it.
