Discussion Anyone here who was pro-life but become pro-choice?

Before becoming pro-choice, my pro-life thoughts were dominant. I respected others but I believed in pro life. How about you?
What made you change your opinions and become pro-choice?

well, i believe we all are pretty much pro-life before we are suicidal. there's not a lot of alternative offered in terms of perspective, and it's not a comfortable position to be seen as "this person who isn't suicidal but is okay with others committing suicide", socially speaking.

only exception being jack kervokian, maybe.

I mean I feel like a exception to that would be if you never knew about the concept of suicide until becoming suicidal yourself. Cus I feel like this applies to me as I only knew of suicide when I became suicidal and I never listened to the platitudes and sayings of "suicide is selfish" or the belief that suicide is bad. You can't really call me pro-life or pro-choice before me being suicidal as I didn't know of suicide really.

For those who were made aware of what suicide is before becoming suicidal, yeah chances are you were pro-life me included. The reality of the world is you can never empathize with another person until you come to know the same pain.

The common platitudes about suicide always made me sick. Pro-life or pro-choice on the issue of suicide isn't as cut and dry as it is on the issue of abortion however, which I'm straightforwardly pro-choice on.

Many people ctb for dumb reasons. Ideally euthanasia would be legal everywhere and people could be assessed to see if it's genuinely their best option/try other things first if applicable etc.

We don't live in that world though. I still land on the pro-choice side. It's just not always so simple.
