I believe in eating other animals. However, I am also pro-choice and believe people should have the freedom to choose what they want

I've been vegan for a few years. It seems that people in my life almost always needlessly try to debate me. I'm all for people doing what they want to do so it can be frustrating! It leaves me not wanting to say much to friends/family anymore because of the commentary, lol. It's exciting to see so many others here though!

I used to be vegetarian but it's super hard to be that with Crohns disease, I can't eat seeds, skins, most fruit and veg are off limits etc. I do miss it though.

Also this, the price of alternative foods is ridiculous.

I really want to be ethically but my living situation and access to good and fresh food is bad. It takes some planning and work to eat vegetable based properly. Beans make me ill so that's a massive staple food gone right there, and I seem to be very sensitive to B12 changes and eating enough eggs to even do ovo-lacto makes me feel bad too, and supplements are mostly crap. The times I have tried to make due with what is here have caused my health to worsen. If I ever had stability and access I would choose to never touch animal products again.

I'm vegan, only 2 years but it was honestly the best decision I ever made and wish I did it sooner. It helps a little with my mental health knowing I'm not contributing so much to unnecessary suffering.

I've been vegetarian for about 9 years and don't miss meat at all. I still enjoy veggie 'chicken' nuggets and a veggie sausage and burger. I may go vegan, I need to look into it.

I just recently went vegan. The 17th (of this month) I just quit eating animal products. I just couldn't do it anymore, it disgusts me eating a corpse of an animal when I don't have to. And I decided to just give up milk sense I'm at it, it's weird drinking it anyways. It's the breast milk of another animal, there's no logical reason behind drinking the milk from another species. Seriously, who thought of that? And what were they thinking? Anyways, it's not really that hard for me, I just went cold turkey because the only things I've ever really eaten that were animal products are chicken, eggs, and milk. Wasn't hard giving them up, the hardest is milk though. Still trying to find a replacement. I watched a few of those videos of what happens on farms and slaughter houses. Yeah, I'm never going back. It disgusts me and it's just cruel the things we do to animals. And it's also good for the environment, which is great because I'm trying to do more things to help the environment too. This post is probably way too long, I'm ending it here.

For health reasons I try to be a vegetarian. I'm really poor and too depressed to cook anything so I can't go full vegan. (In Finland all vegetables and fruits cost 2-10 times as much as in America or other countries). Imagine paying ten dollars for one small bell pepper! Spanish bell peppers are unhealthier and more unhygienic but cost "only" four dollars jfl. I also often suffer from emotional eating which makes me not look what I eat.

I wish there were more vegetarian or vegan options in Finland. One cafe in the middle of a city advertised salads. I was hungry so I went there and asked what kind of salads they have. The options were "Fish1, fish2, chicken, mammal meat1, meat2, meat3, meat4 or shrimps". Finns are unable to make salads without filling them with some kind of meat.

Every single time when I go to a food store to buy myself a salad or a bread/baguette, it has meat. Chicken, teriyaki chicken, fish made in Finnish way and that means smoked and rotted to death and left to flies, bacon, kebab, that Greek poop that has olives and I hate olives more than that Finnish poop called Mämmi, shrimps, mozzarella.

I have never been in a Finnish cafe or food store which sells salads made for salad eaters and vegans. (And no comments from other Finns about how there are some vegan cafes in the capital because I live in a tiny town far from the capital.)

Have you tried this society?

dude, i've clearly stated i'm a vegetarian not a vegan. And I didn't like the idea of someone torturing and killing kittens when i used to eat meat. Most people don't, meat eaters included.

I don't think there's a caring reason for there to even be a difference between the two words. And how do you know what most people prefer?

There's a difference between the 2 words because they mean different things.

"How do I know that most people don't like the idea of torturing and killing kittens?" Because most people aren't sociopaths like you. It's also against the law as you've found out, this is an indication that society finds this unacceptable.

Why don't you drop into conversation what you did to random people in real life? What do you think their reaction would be?

I already have. And that is the reason I got ratted to the police. My one friend's reaction was to join me, although he got later depressed over the kitten killing for some reason and saw a therapist. The other friend became sick to his stomach and called the police a week later, and only ratted me out and not the other friend. So the lesson of this is to always think about the consequences before you speak, and to never seek other people's reactions for the thrill of it.

I am not a sociopath. I am just labelled as one simply because my view of the world is different compared to the people in power.

Sigh. The lesson should be not to torture and kill animals in the first place, not to make sure you get away with it.

Are you a sociopath?
Extreme cruelty to animals? Check.
Lack of remorse? Check.
Blaming others? Check.
Disregard of the law? Check.
Won't accept the diagnosis? Check.
Social difficulty? Check (i've read your previous posts where you say people say you are introverted).
Assessed by trained professionals to be a sociopath? Check.

The last point alone is enough. There's no conspiracy against you (if you honestly think there is, you may have other mental health issues). No one forced you to kill those animals.

You are solely to blame. But i guess trying to reason with someone with a mind like yours is pointless.

I do have remorse for what I did. It's just hard to feel much right now due to the stress taking over and life getting destroyed in only a week. It may seem like I am a temporary sociopath, but that's because of all my mixed emotions. We used to have two cats at my house that I loved, fed, and cuddled with. I was never inherently a bad person. I just had bad luck, and made the wrong, stupid decisions out of anger, extreme stress and just insanity. I don't think I was even sane when I did this stuff. I'm just trying to make myself feel better by blaming others and all. And the therapists never diagnosed me with Antisocial Personality Disorder.

Trust me. Just because someone tortured animals doesn't mean they're a sociopath. I just had a bad life, went insane and did these cruel things. I wish I could go back in time and never fucking do them, but I can't.

I just want to run away so I can have a good life, put my bad past in the trash bin, and start over. At this point, I just want to find my inner peace and become a good person. Either that or suicide, whatever ends up working out.

Me!

It drastically changed my outlook, energy and my skin. I often suffered from skin condition flareups but not so much anymore.

I wanted to be one of those oil-free type vegans. But oreos???

I'm vegetarian, tried going vegan, but it can be very expensive especially trying to get chocolate substitutes and snacky treats. Cheaper to make your own. But will try again to go fully vegan, I don't miss meat but I do miss fish and seafood, but there are some alternatives which aren't too bad.
I think that not just from an ethical point of view but also for an environmental one, we as a species need to eat less meat and animal produce.
I've started using oat milk which I found is better than soya and almond milks, it's also less impactful on the environment.
I still find it a bizarre fact that we are the only species on the planet that drinks another animals milk.

I've been vegan for 4 years now, best decision I ever made. Sometimes I think I should stick around just for the sake of helping animals. Getting gunned down by the "animal agriculture" industry isn't a bad idea. Little do they know, they would be doing me a favour

I was very vegan when I was trying to live. Not for health reasons, physical or mental. And, not for traditional reasons of ethics.

Meat just grossed me out. Now, as Stan put it: the end is near, I face the final curtain, I'll say it clear. Why are those critters both cute AND tasty??

I tried it a couple of times, once after Earthlings and another time later for potential health benefits. My health has been shit for 20 years, I didn't do well on it.

I do better on a low carb, meat heavy diet, so I eat meat. My skin and autoimmune conditions do much better on a ketogenic diet, sadly my health/life is beyond repair so I don't have the willpower to diet strictly anymore. I've been on and off keto diets probably a dozen times, skin improves dramatically everytime and I end up looking much better/more muscular/lean.

The diet wars are kinda funny to me tbh, i've been on both sides, know all the youtubers/experts, it's like comedy to me at this point, like politics.

Nutrition 'experts' might just be the most annoying humans on earth tbh.

Well to be fair, veganism isnt a diet. It's an ethical choice made for the animals that includes not wearing leather/fur, or using other products that are tested on animals etc.

People who just stop eating meat and dairy as a diet choice are considered plant based.

Right, I didn't have the luxury of being a vegan, I was too physically ill to begin with. Wish I could be a vegan, carbs are delicious, and I generally like animals more than humans.

Actually, the first time I tried it, was after Earthlings, based purely on not wanting to eat animals, wasn't into nutritional science way back then.
