Can i ask people here a short question?

I'm 25 and i just wanna know how turning 30 for a lot of people went in their "mind"
Howdy!

I am 67 and I turned 30 a heck of a long time ago, then 40 then 50 then 60, YIKES! The major aspect of age, and/or growing older, is attitude, plain and simple as that. I have in all my years met folks who were 30 and acted 70 and vice versa.

For me, I had just graduated from college at 28, went late. I was still trying to figure out what I really wanted to do as far as both personal and business aspects go. Around 31 or 32 I figured out what I wanted to do and have been at the same ever since, at least 35 years of it.

The main thing that I feel that most should remember is that one leaves with what one came with, ZERO! and with that said one should always stop along the journey of life and not only smell the roses, help others along the way. Oh, ya, I have had a lot of heartaches and trauma and drama also!

Always willing to help has always made me happy and fill content. and no matter the numerical age of a person it is the heart and mind that is everything, NOT a darn number ever.

Heavens when I was 25, I had no idea what I wanted to do, except get a 4-year degree, which I started at 24. You have the world at your hands, and just by the very short post that you have one can tell that you have empathy, caring and love for your fellow soul, just so wonderful!

You will do awesome and never look at a number, i.e., age get you down or even wonder about it.

Walter

As someone who literally just turned 40... I just want to know if there are other 35+ people on here.... so many of you guys seem to be 20s, even teens... and I hope not younger.
I'm sure some of my posts here would make my age/world-experience pretty obvious.
May be that's why I'm on here just to discuss means/sources - that too because I'm stuck on foreign terrain now.... not really seeking camaraderie... kind of just set in in CTB and all other notions and stuff?
Btw, may be my perspective is informative to someone: I do see one difference in me from most people here... to the extent I've seen posts... I must say that at least until a few years ago, my life has been attended by every kind of success you can think of... excepting may be starting a family - fell too ill before that one. No life-experience really has been frustrating... went to the best schools in the US and elsewhere... high-flying career, an amount of acclaim... quite some $ before even turning 30. Must've crammed 60 years worth by 35. Illness and other circumstances have now caught up with me. But, even these I just think it's what it is.... genius runs on both sides of the family. So too does illness. A lot of very smart, very distinguished, very fragile people all round. Win some, lose some I guess, like in the Joe Pesci movie. So, even this CTB turn, I'm the least bit upset or pensive. I just care that I don't botch it, and don't end up in jail, because, this is India....
I am 46

It didn't do much of anything. Never was a young-at-heart person and it was just another year that went by. More people made a big deal of me turning 30 than I did, like it's some big milestone or life altering timestamp.

I'm 70. Although the majority of users of this site do seem to be young, there are many older people too.

Yes similar age to you, makes me sad(er) seeing so many teenagers and young 20 something's on this forum. I feel like us middle age - old timers are in a different position regarding suicide, I am acutely aware of how little time and societal acceptance of changes to our lives we have left once you hit 35+, one job loss can end a career at this point, and outside of work once you've done most of the major milestones it is difficult finding any love for life when every day bleeds into another.

You are practically a youngster compared to me at 67, I mean that in the best way possible as, having a generous heart and mind towards yourself and others is so very much more than any number or what some might think and/or view.

I have in all my life met folks who were open minded and kind and of course narrow minded and cruel and guess what? the folks that were narrow minded were always standing by themselves. Nobody likes a mean downer person and whenever someone, like at a business meeting would or will say something about either my gray hair or age, I just smile knowing that they lost before they even started. Yep, not only still work full time, but fly a lot, not now as I am getting over nerve issues from a car crash but will be back in the air shortly.

You are an awesome, kind and caring soul and never let the turkeys get you down.

Sending lots of caring hugs and the knowledge that you are very important spirit.

Walter

I'm 42. I'm set on my ctb. I just come here to vent and express my soul. My life was definitely not as good as yours. I've suffered almost every kind of abuse you can think of... from those closest to me and strangers. Sure, I've had some successes and adventures, but trauma stays with you. I am sorry for the unfortunate things that have happened to you, though. I wish you luck and clarity in whatever path you decide to take.
As some say, I dinged level 46 a few days ago.
Happy Belated Birthday.

I'd been an overachiever all my life… I skipped two grades, started university at 16, did two concurrent degrees. I was a bit of a hotshot in my field by the time I was 27/28. I was actually kind of excited to turn 30. In my head, the "old guard" in my field would stop seeing me as a young hotshot and I'd start to be more respected.

And actually, I was sort of right. My career really picked up. But it all fell apart when I was 36. Sometimes you push too hard, sacrificing a lot on your way, and then life catches up with you. Then again, perhaps things would have gone south anyway, so it's good I gave it my all when I could.

But fwiw, although my 20s brought about some of the toughest times and saddest memories of my life, I still long for them. Maybe I want to do them over… do them better with what I've learned? Idk. All I can say is that growing up has taught me that one should never be too hasty to grow up. Whatever you think is the "next great thing" waiting on the other side of the age line isn't as good as it appears to be.

But that's just my opinion.

Yep. Quite a bit older. Coming up on 74 in less than a month. And, very, very tired. CTB will be such a blessing.

I have to say what an interesting, well-written post. I feel though that I have to ask how things 'fell apart' and what it is that drives you to post here (if you're willing to share)?

42 here. Ironically, dying from the same illness that my father succumbed to, just fast-tracked 8 years (assuming I can CTB soon and don't let the illness drag out, then it could be a painful 7 maybe though I highly doubt I'll make it to my next birthday).
