i know there's no real medication for bpd and the most commonly prescribed ones are antidepressants but would antipsychotics help my bpd? and how do i get prescribed them in the uk since it's a medication that's used for bipolar disorder instead? i don't really think i want to be on antidepressants again i don't think they did much for me. i just feel like i'm going fucking crazy i'm so impulsive and destructive i keep making bad decisions. i broke my phone screen during a breakdown and continue ruining relationships because i can't control my impulses. that's why i think antipsychotics would be good for me since they can be used to help impulsive behaviour.

Mood stabilizers sound more like what you want, honestly.

There is no FDA-approved medication specifically for BPD, certain medications have been found to be effective in managing some of the associated symptoms such as mood instability, impulsivity, and emotional dysregulation. These include antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and antidepressants

yes some are too! for example i take an anticonvulsant that works as a anxiolytic
thank you i'll do that. i'll have to talk to my gp first i'm scared they won't take me seriously or will just prescribe me antidepressants again
what worked for me is emphasizing my more self destructive actions. i told them i sh when im having a big emotion and that made them take me more seriously

yeah i do that too. i just have to make sure to talk about my self destructive behaviours in a way that won't make them think i'll OD on the medication they give me. that's why i've been put off on going on antidepressants again because my last gp thought that i'd try to kms on them as if that's my ideal way to go…

Someone I know takes lamotragine! It works great for their BPD.

Every person I know who has BPD has always seen some effect on their disorder when under mood stabilizers like said above. Carbamazepine, Lamotragine even Lithium.

Well for.me mood stabilizer can be a great option. I take lithium 600 (ik is for bipolar) but it has other uses as well and it did wonders for me.

The only that sucks I need to get my blood checked once a month to check the levels.

Ofc for me worked but is a good thing to talk your doctor before that tho.
