Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I have started antidepressants. I feel I still want to ctb, because it's the best solution, but I feel the medication is just making it more difficult to actually go through. It's weird, it doesn't solve anything. I don't feel happier, life is as shitty as it is. There is nothing good here. I just feel numb and lacking the willpower to do what I need to do. Has anyone had that effect of medication? I wonder if I should stop the medication... Hopefully that will make it easier to end everything. It's my first time taking antidepressants, so not sure what I was expecting. Medication feels like putting a bandaid in a bloody open wound and pretend it's not there, while slowly bleeding out, for real.

Same experience, it's why i went off paroxetine. Everything was dulled aside from extreme emotions. I stopped expecting during that time.

How many meds did you try? It usually takes a while till you find the right meds for you.

Meds are very hit and miss and are mostly in place to help prevent the really crippling emotional reactions so you can work on good habits and changing the way you think. It's pretty difficult and a total crapshoot, but sometimes they can work for people.

^^^This. OP: just talk with your psych about it, and try different meds. If your psych sucks say "bye" and try with another one.
Don't underestimate the fact that a different combination of meds/psychologist/psychiatrist can make the difference.

davana, there are many different types of antidepressants. Just because your current one isn't working for you, it doesn't mean that another one won't. Or you may need your dose increasing. It usually takes 4 - 6 weeks for antidepressants to improve your mood, and they can cause you to feel much worse in. the first few weeks. Please give it a good length of time (at least 6 weeks) before going back to your prescriber to ask for an increase of dose or change to a different ad. Good luck.
