• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

So one of our dogs passed on Memorial Day this year, she was old but it was at least quick. Kinda poking around but I started looking at rescue sites again and found one that's coming our way, up from Georgia. She has an underbite that some will call ugly but I love the uggos, it's personality. She must have had some odd stuff before, the foster said she ran to the shelter folks to get away from the couple surrendering her. She should be here this week. Point of the post is that there were responsibilities that I had that kept me from even thinking of CTB no matter what happened. Kid, my mom, the dogs, etc. Most of those have become non-issues and I was really down to the last one but adding this 1 year old dog locks me in for however long she's here, I (more than my wife) wanted her, did the paperwork, am ready to raise her and give her the best I can. That also means I suck it up and keep moving forward regardless. So that part sucks and "what was I thinking" comes to mind. But it also gives my life more meaning than work-pay taxes-work and a feeling of an actual purpose. I see my therapist tonight so we'll have something to talk about and he'll have some things to say. He's a good therapist for me, no bs and all that. But the work and costs of another dog is worth it to me. Anyone had this same thing happen to them?

Seems like a great decision, I dont see why not if it makes you happy and gives you purpose.

Sounds wonderful to get a new dog!

Having a pet to have company with, watch a sun rise and sun set and everything in between is pure bliss.

You are such a wonderful soul, and I bet your new dog will be an equal in all matters, GREAT!

Have a sunny day and lots of well wishes.

Walter

I am right there with you ... I look at this zoo I have and am so grateful for each and every one of them. And if I had the money I'd have an entire compound full of cats ... And dogs ... 🄰🄰🄰

Same thing here. I had to get another dog, and I think it was ultimately a good decision.
I went with an incredibly tough dog. Lots of work and responsibility - but I think it's often those things that gives life meaning.

I haven't been on the forums for a while but there's a common theme in posts about not having any responsibility to another, usually pets but also kids, spouse, etc. On my low days I'm totally there, waiting until my passing doesn't leave another being in dire straits (I seperate emotional loss from physical care, just how my brain works), like checking off boxes. But an equal part says "I have the space and resources to help another get out of a shitty spot and I'm willing to help so just get on and help". And those 2 parts equally and independently battle. Now that I've committed the down part of me says "well you stuck it in good this time", but I have no resentment and go full in but it looks weird seeing my actions from outside of me. And my therapist is a philosplopher so tonight may be interesting.
