I've been watching Re:Zero. Boy gets transported into a fantasy world. Discovers that everytime he dies he respawns some time before his death even if he suicides. Physical and mental torment ensues.

They're not Japanese, but they have an animesque style; Avatar: The Last Airbender and Totally Spies. I would say Winx Club too, but ppl are pretty torn on whether it's animesque or not.
Avatar technically is an anime. It's just not made in Japan.

Even if it's not an anime it has the qualities of one.

When it's stupid, it's stupid, but when it gets serious... there were more then a few moments that made me legitimately tear up.

Someone posted in another thread that they wanted information about some anime to watch. Then I saw a mod post pointing to this thread.

Not too long ago, I basically went on a mission to watch every anime I could determine beforehand was worth watching until there was no more or I got bored. I got bored looking for more. animenewsnetwork.com played a significant part in accomplishing this with ratings, reviews, related anime, and being able to track what I had seen.

If one is like me, it is definitely a recommendation and warning list. If that isn't the case, it's mostly a list of anime a person has watched and what they thought. Order within a category is not according to any further characterization.

Favorites - I'd probably admit to a real person
Natsume's Book Of Friends (S1, S2, S3, S4), Steins;Gate, Mushi-shi (TV), Girls and Panzer, Master Keaton, Valkyria Chronicles (TV), Anthem of the Heart, Parasyte - The Maxim, Elfen Lied, Another

OK - Including ones I wouldn't admit to liking or having seen
Porco Rosso, Akira (movie), No Game No Life Zero, Rumbling Hearts, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Castle in the Sky (movie), Nodame Cantabile (TV), Touch (TV), Planetes, Ghost in the Shell (movie), Hunter x Hunter, Pandora Hearts (TV), Darker Than Black (S1). Gurren Lagann, Black Cat, Kiki's delivery service, Seirei no moribito, Log Horizon, From Up On Poppy Hill, Ano Hana: The flower we saw that day, One Punch Man, Romeo x Juliet, Trigun, Usagi Drop/Bunny Drop, Grave of the Fireflies, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files, Attack on Titan (S1,S2,OVA1), Death March to The Parallel World Rhapsody (TV), Re:Zero Starting Life In Another World, Chobits, All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku, All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku Dash, Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni, Redline, Wolf's Rain, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, The Wind Rises

Didn't like or hate

When Marnie was Here, Genocyber, Monster, Shigofumi - Letters from the Departed (that's right, one-time letters sent from people that died), Voices of a Distant Star, 5 centimeters per second, Now and then here and there,

Offended me
Berserk Golden Age Arc (movie) (I,II,III), Code Geass, Metropolis, Shonen Omyouji, Made In Abyss, Katanagatari, Spice and Wolf (TV), Neon Genesis: Evangelion (and OVAs),Visions of Escaflowne, The 12 Kingdoms, Gungrave, Death Note.

Never will finish
Fugushi Yugi, Kimagure Orange Road, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Darker Than Black (S2).

There's anime for pretty much everything, and it's entirely dependent on what type you're looking for. Romance? Drama? Slice of life? Comedy? Action?

In regards to time traveling I'd personally recommend The girl who leapt through time. Although it's a movie and not a series.

Steins;Gate's main genre/themes are: butterfly effect, conspiracy, time travel, tragedy, mystery, romance, science fiction. It's top rated and fits multiple requested categories, so it's a safe bet.

post-apocalyptic: +mecha Gurren Lagaan, +military +tragedy Attack On Titan, +android +mystery Ergo Proxy
alien: +fighting +gore +romance Parasyte - The Maxim, (already mentioned in this thread, have not seen myself) +harem +parody Gintama
conspiracy: Darker Than Black

Since you know nothing about anime, this link should help you searching by category https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/search/genre and once you found what you want: https://animetosho.org/.

I would like that in this thread we share tastes and opinions about different animes.

I start, I love Serial Experiments Lain, it is a very psychological anime uses the concept of "internet" to talk about some philosophical issues such as existentialism.

Have you considered watching Lain on LSD?

https://myanimelist.net/anime/28223/Death_Parade

After death, there is no heaven or hell, only a bar that stands between reincarnation and oblivion. There the attendant will, one after another, challenge pairs of the recently deceased to a random game in which their fate of either ascending into reincarnation or falling into the void will be wagered. Whether it's bowling, darts, air hockey, or anything in between, each person's true nature will be revealed in a ghastly parade of death and memories, dancing to the whims of the bar's master. Welcome to Quindecim, where Decim, arbiter of the afterlife, awaits!

Wow, that sounds utterly
t h r i l l in g to participate in

An unexpectedly peppy and bombastic theme for a show about dead people desperately competing with the fate of their souls at stake

Oh and CTB trigger warning. It deals with suicide themes. It's unexpectedly relaxing and comfortable to watch - I kind of wish I could work as an arbiter in a quiet, cozy little afterlife bar that plays jazz lounge music

RomCom slice of life favorite is ToraDora
If you're into gaming Log Horizon is pretty cool, too.
Durarara
Ano Hana and Ano Natsu de Matteru are a couple of short 12 episode RomCom/Slice of Life
Erased (Crime/Mystery)
Kakegurui (Really random and I love the art)
For movies try, Hotarubi no Mori e and Summer Wars :D

A new anime I've started watching called Rising of the Shield Hero is also good so far.

It does a great job of showing how people with a high social status can be manipulative and fuck up your life.
