Awww, thanks, @Per Ardua Ad Astra! Herpetology is one of my three favorite zoological studies! My other two favorites are ornithology and entomology.

I'm so squeamish about fangs, claws , stingers, creepy crawlers etc !!!

But I do like geckos, newts, birds, bees, turtles, toads, butterflies etc. And mythical creatures !

I'm … was — an anthropologist / archaeologist. Not digging nor disturbing sites — but using geophysics, etc — to record / map / preserve sites — until I got ill.
Lots of mythology, cosmology, botany, rocks, art, etc. I really miss it

Greek Yellow Jasper Ringstone with Crocodile ~

~ Engraved on this flat oval Yellow Jasper is a Crocodile in profile, on a groundline, with wavy lines below indicating water from which rise lotus flowers and unopened buds.
~ The Crocodile raises its head as well as the tip of its tail, its scales rendered by a series of drilled dots.

The Crocodile was venerated and feared in Egypt and was well-known to the Greeks and Romans. Herodotus, writing during the 5th century B.C., was the first ancient writer to mention them.

(The stone is mounted as a ring in a 19th century gold setting)

Quaking Aspen Grove



Populus tremuloides, known colloquially as the quaking Aspen, is a native Colorado tree species where individual trees are connected to their neighbors by their roots.
This community of clones is referred to as a grove.
One grove of aspens in Utah is so large that it is classified as the largest living organism in the world by weight.
It is such a monumental grove that it even has its own name, Pando, which translates to "I spread" in Latin.

Pando is 13,000 years old and 106-acres wide.

I didn't know much about reptiles and amphibians until I play games here - Mother Nature is great!
