I don't know. Exactly what the title says. I have vicious mood swings every day and am having the worst time of my life. Every moment is one of isolation and abject misery. I think about killing myself multiple times every hour. I know things will never improve but I have no prospects aside from this. If I quit then it's over. If I don't do well then it's over. I don't sleep anymore because I don't want to wake up. Everyone will tell me it will only get worse, so why should I live?

Suddenly being dropped into an alien environment like college or the Army can create anxiety. We usually grow up in an environment that gives ys lots of "anchor points" such as places, people, activities, and routine that come to define our life. When this is stripped away, it can be traumatic.

It can be useful to develop new anchor points. One can find a little refuge in reading fiction. attending group activities or meetings, or even doing volunteer work. Each step helps reduce the anxiety because you begin to see yourself as more in control.

I'm on my third year of college and man do I feel that. College has been one of the worst things for my mental health ngl, every time I start classes again my mental health drops so hard in just a few days. Like I'll be on a semester break or something and I start being able to think more clearly about my life and manage my mood swings a little better, or at least recover more graciously from them, and as soon as classes start all the progress goes down the drain.

Like timf said, finding some sort of community to anchor yourself helps a lot, that's kind of my goal for this year as well. And overall a routine can help a lot too, especially when it comes to sleep. Sleep is vital to help with mood swings, so do try to get consistent good sleep. I wish you the best of luck, things can 100% get better.

I'm really sorry to hear, ManAboutTown~ :( College sucks and is pretty miserable for me as well~ :( I hope you are able to make friends there somehow because that will make or break it~ :) Try your absolute hardest! >_< I unfortunately failed irl, but maybe you can succeed~ :) ofc, there's more to college than friends~ There's also studying too ofc~ >_< The thing is that since you're in your freshman year, you'll likely not have much of a challenge with that until you're a junior or a senior~ :) or are crazy like me and take way too many classes in order to get the heck out of there because you hate it so much~ xD for the meantime, try going to social events and stuff! :) You're still in the right time to make friends, since more people are looking rn! :) Best of luck! ^_^
In regards to sleeping, remember that sleep is important and getting a good amount (but not too much unfortunately! :/) of it will make you feel better~ :) Not to mention that being asleep makes you unconscious which means that you don't have to suffer with all the misery and horrible-ness of being awake~ :)
