So I go to bed about a week and a half ago. And wake up in the hospital with a ventilator, iv, and a catheter. I panicked because I couldn't breath and topped everything out. The nurses came running in and said you can't do that!! Well....I already did. I asked what happened and apparently my roommate tried to wake me up and couldn't so he called 911 they took me to the hospital and my oxygen was bottomed out. And I want responsive I had pneumonia in both lungs so the were going to try to keep me sedated and let me heal up. Don't get me wrong I do appreciate the effort and the attention but about a foot away from my head where I was asleep, there is a big bright pink paper hanging on the wall that clearly says DNR! Underneath that is my living will signed witnessed and notarized. No cardio version, no incubation, no feeding tubes, no life support period. If I'm not breathing or responsive, leave me alone. This is one of the main reasons I'm going to ctb it's my decision and my terms. I don't trust anybody to give them power of attorney over me. I also have a defibrillator implanted inside me that was turned off and they went ahead and turned it back on. Wtf who do they think they are? Aren't there any laws about this? Does anybody know of anything I can do about it? I know the emts were just doing their job and I to appreciate it. The time they wasted on me could have been spent on a little kid or somebody who wants and deserves to live. But the hospital just took it upon themselves to pretty much do as they saw fit. I'm so pissed off I could probably do some pretty bad stuff to the hospital that I won't say. I know our rights are slowly being stripped away but this is crazy. Has this happened to anybody else? Anyway one valuable lesson for the men on here, NEVER rip a catheter out. Bad idea
