Suppose there are two buttons. You only get to press one.

The first button will instantly give you a peaceful death and guarantees non-existence. The other will fix all your current problems and rid you of all your current suffering.

Which button would you press?

The peaceful death please. I don't think there's such a thing as 'solving all your problems.' Just as soon as your current set of problems are fixed, along come the next lot!

To solve all problems- that means the complete absence of pain, illness and death. Who wants to go through the pain of losing their parents to cancer? Their beloved pet? Watching their friends suffer and die one by one? Becoming ill themselves one day? Yet- this earth can't support infinite amounts of living organisms that keep breeding and not dieing. It's struggling as it is! So- to solve 'all problems'- that would mean an entirely different set up. Preferably one where we don't have to slaughter animals to eat meat for one. This whole world feels too complicated to fix! Perhaps the better option would be to labotonize the lot of us, so we don't even realise how corrupt it is!

I think the second button is probably the best choice that makes the most sense to pick, but at this point i feel like i kind of deserve to die rather than get better due to the people I've hurt and negatively affected, so i think i would choose the first one.

I choose Non-existence forever , the 1st button that guarantees a peaceful quick Death . Death = Non-existence forever ...

Non-existence Forever solves all problems instantly and for all time, no pain or suffering ever again for me

I would love to have all my problems fixed, but it means literaly changing the world and how are humans about people like me. It's unrealistic. If only it was possible, I would not CtB at all. If there was only one reason to have hope I would not be there (or at least I would be on recovery).

I am the cause of most of my problems, so to fix them I would have to become a completely different person. But then "I" would be dead, so that's not really any different from ctb. I suppose you could also change the world to accommodate me, but that would honestly be pretty bad for the world.

Probably the second button on impulse. For better or worse, I still latch onto a sense of hope that maybe someday I'll wake up and miraculously be a different person. Maybe it's because I consume so much fiction that depict that circumstances can change for anyone with the snap of a finger. All this escapist media has distorted my reality of what I really want. But we don't live in a fantasy world.

I'm not delusional enough to not realize that the source of all my problems, in the end, is ME. So, what does getting a reset in life do? I'm never going to be normal if some of my problems go away which could be "Solved". Because at the core of it all is me, the real PROBLEM.

Honestly, at the end of it all, I'd probably still choose option 2. I don't really wish to CTB because I want to, rather I so wish that I was just never born.

I'd rather have a peacefull death than getting rid of the issues. And they're not realistic to get rid of either. Later on in life that could also mean not getting a peacefull death so its better to just go for that to begin with :3

Jeez. This is tricky.
I don't...Hmm....
Honestly, similar to @Thanksforeverything , there's that bit of SI disguised as "hope". While I am thankful for the experiences both good and bad, I think i have enough grasp of how the world works that i'd still go for button 1.
The world is an interesting place, thank you very much. It's made up of interesting people, which makes for interesting outlooks and events and achievements and failures. Despite all the posts about vents and misery, pro-left and pro-right and pro this and anti that, I'm still thankful that I had the time and opportunity to experience it. Having said that, button 1 is like "Okay, i tried it, its not for me, thank you".

Difficult choice, but if option two could instantly rid you of chronic diseases, disabilities, depression, traumatic memories and any other unfortunate circumstances you'd find yourself in then it's tempting.
For me personally I think option two might be viable provided it clears all that shit up and makes it go away. But then again I'm at a point where even the suffering around me depresses me. What with global warming, climate change, the state the world is in...
I think I'd want to CTB after all.

In my case I see existence as the problem which of course can only be solved by ceasing to exist. No matter what I'd prefer to eternally not exist than to be cursed with the ability to suffer in this futile and burdensome existence.

I don't believe that existence was ever or could ever be a desirable state in the first place, the existence of life was the most terrible, horrific tragedy and it disturbs me how there is no limit as to how much one can be tormented as long as they exist here. I don't see anything appealing about decaying and deteriorating from age, only ceasing to exist is desirable to me, it comforts me to think of being permanently free from existing.

And I just see existence as being very pointless and unnecessary overall, it's something very unappealing and tiresome to be conscious and aware, a slave to the decaying flesh prison that is the human body. Ceasing to exist solves everything, removes the need for anything and prevents all future unnecessary suffering and harms. Only non-existence is ideal to me as after all nobody can suffer from the absence of anything, I envy those who are no longer enslaved in this existence.

I would do anything to get well. I have done and tried everything to get well. Apparently I have only gotten worse. So I would much rather get well and have a good life. Then to die.

When that is said, i think right now, that one of the reasons keeping me here is a longing for the past that is gone and the si (false hope) that is irrational. Because there is absolutely no reason to live. I am tired of scrolling this page, tired of waiting and tired of just surviving. And not living like I used to. And off course the main reason -waiting for supplements to arrive.

Of course I'd choose for all of my problems to be fixed, it's because they're unfixable that I want to ctb, but if some magic could fix my problems, erase my past and rewrite my future so that my problems wouldve never existed and wouldve never had any influence then yes, I'd press that button....
Otherwise if you're just getting rid of my current problems,.. I'm not sure, after all that wouldnt repair the damage those problems have already done.

Of course I want my problems to be solved and to just have a good life. It's not that easy. The problems I have are chronic. There is no way to escape it.

I can take a recovery-oriented approach, but ultimately I will fall again with a downward spiral.

So the best way is death.

I agree age is never resolved but gets worse every year for all humans and all animals every year is worse 61 is worse than 60 , 70 worse than 61 , 80 worse than 70 and so on ... old age brings more problems which get worse they never get better , the brain especially decays rapidly declines every year every day, old age shows life is bad

I would rather CTB peacefully. I agree that I don't think our problems ever can be "fixed". Even if somehow they get fixed, new ones will always pop up sooner or later.

Is this a serious question? If it were possible, I would push the button that would solve all of my problems.
Why would I want to ctb if I could solve my problems and be given a second chance?

Yes.... So sad...Yesterday I watched lots of videos about people with dementia and the hell that their loved ones who take care of them for 5-20 years go through... Terrible.

In addition to potential problems with the brain, it's also the looks aspect that bothers me. Being very tolerant to all look aspects in general in life, I am talking here about the look which gives us the role of an old lady in society.I am a very bad actress to play this role, I refuse this scenario.

I don't want society to attribute to me all the properties of old age: that young men see me as a milf, that people always wonder if I look my age or not etc.

I was a happy and optimistic person, but this optimism was essentially due to the fact that life ends one day and to the interests and emotions linked to the age before 45. My only reason for CTB at the moment is a serious illness caused by Covid and I'm not even 40 yet, but I have never been able to imagine my life after 45, total black hole. I don't think that without my illness I would last more than 55 years, in the best case scenario.... Even if I never planned to ctb before my current serious illness.

I think it's about your mindset. If you would choose to solve your problems, you still see hope. If you would choose to ctb, you've given up.

The "fix all your current problems" thing wouldn't work for me. My problems started in my tween years. The question has been posed here before "if you could go back in time and fix mistakes, would you?" I've thought about this a lot, and the only way I could fix my mistakes is if I could go back in time with the wisdom I have now. Otherwise I'd just go back in time and make the same stupid mistakes/decisions or worse ones. I'd need to start at around age 17 with my wisdom now. That's the only way all my problems could be fixed, as that would also create pleasant memories versus the really awful memories I have now.

Give me peaceful, instant death.
