This is a follow-up from my first thread asking people about the procedure for buying shotguns. Turns out I've decided it's too risky to go through an FFL and try passing the background check and I've found this great site for muzzleloaders which just makes buying the gun, bullets and everything I need too easy. I mean, this just seems too good to be true. They will ship right to my door, even in California, it will be a 1-2 day delivery to me because they ship from Oregon, and I can even spend $90 extra for overnight shipping if it's that much of a time crunch.

So, I watched this video, thanks to thrw_away_121221's (*approximate username) Firearms megathread.

"How to Safely and Properly Load a Muzzleloader"

This video informed me that I will need 5 things: 1) The gun, 2) The bullets, 3) A ramrod, 4) Powder pellets, and 5) Primers.

Take a look at this site! It's like heaven on a computer screen!

So I was looking at the inline rifles. I'm guessing those ones will be more lethal than the traditional rifles and the muskets.

So... what's the most lethal brand, most lethal model? Which gun should I get? The CVA Wolf...?? The CVA Optima...?? A Thompson...?? I'm just gonna put it on my credit card so sky's the limit!!

Most importantly, I want to be sure that I buy compatible materials. I don't want to end up getting a ramrod that doesn't fit down the barrel or the wrong type of primers or something. It looks like most of the guns take .50 caliber bullets, which I think, is the most lethal (or lethal enough) caliber?

What are the best and correct primers and powder pellets to get? I hear that black powder is what works but they offer black powder substitutes which they say are more effective (for hunting, I don't know if what's more effective for hunting is also more effective for suicide).

Am I right to be this excited? Will it really be this easy? Please, anyone who has some more knowledge about muzzleloaders and what I should get, I really value your advice!

Just think, if this can really play out like it looks like it can, I could die in a week or less... OMG that's the most exciting thing I can think of in life. DEATH.

I love that you are using this method so oldschool and elegant way to go also think of the history wondering how many people who comitted suicide using their muzzleloaders back in the 1700´s

I´m just very into history so I find it extremely fascinating that you choose this method the same with hanging it´s so interesting to commit suicide the same way as humans who lived hundreds or even thousands of years ago did.

SO TEMPTED TO CHECK OUT! I picked out all my stuff from the website!

So I picked a gun, the CVA Wolf Stainless PR2110S. https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/cva-wolftm-stainless-pr2110s.html

I downloaded the user manual and watched the tutorial video in the side panel of the website. It turns out the ramrod is included with the gun so I won't have to buy that.

LUCKILY I realized that only certain bullets are California legal - I almost picked out the ones shown in the video which are illegal, so I hope these ones I picked out are acceptable substitutes - The Thor One-Size-Fits-All (so I don't have to buy a sizing pack) 247-300 grain bullets. https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/thor-one-size-bullet-full-bore-conical-247-to-300-grain-bullets.html

Turns out I needed some breech plug grease as well! How about this stuff? https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/thompson-center-t-17-breech-plug-grease.html

And a bullet starter! https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/powerbelt-bullet-starter-ac1500.html

A lot of the primers were out of stock but sounds like I need the 209s. I got these (Federal 209A) which I hope are sufficient. https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/federal-209a-primers.html

And the powderized pellets - TR White hots are strongly recommended by the video and the manual. Now, one thing I'm a little unsure about is the black powder laws of California which state: j. Pelletized powder systems prohibited in muzzleloading seasons. Source article: https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/articles/muzzleloader-regulations-by-state/#cali

The only thing that matters is, that there won't be any problems buying these items on my credit card and having them shipped to my door. Even bullets that were illegal to SHOOT in California, I suppose, could still be legally shipped to me. I'm thinking that it is only hunting under prohibited conditions which is a problem. Nobody has to know if I'm loading my muzzleloader with White Hots in my apartment, right? I mean, are those a "pelletized powder system"? ...does this matter, in any way, is what I'm trying to say I guess. Oh yeah, this is them: https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/imr-white-hots-pellets.html

Wow, zOMG, I actually did research! That's probably more avid research than I've ever done in school. Anybody out there who happens to know exactly if all of this stuff works... are you there? Seems like it might be a shot in the dark, just asking via this one post on this one thread. I'll wait until at least tomorrow to "proceed to checkout". Once I click, "confirm order" after I put in my CC info... damn I can't wait for that feeling. That will be at least half-way to sealing the deal. I will have my foot in the door for my plan at least. Of course I'll be afraid that I rushed the decision and be doomed to an overlooked consequence of skipped information.

When my supplies arrive, I will take the time to post again about practicing loading and maybe shooting primers as they did in the video. I won't spew out anymore blah-de-blah-de-blah about that right now.

DEATH. REIGNS. SUPREME. AS IT SHOULD BE!

P.S. Don't buy any of the items from my links, I don't want them to be out of stock when I finalize my purchase! My stuff, mine mine mine!!!
