My joining day is a suicide prevention day? How hilarious. XD

A lot of suicidal people are either poor or overworked. Give us money to never have to work again. Then the rest are either ill or someone they loved died. Make a necromancer who can heal and raise the dead. And you'd solve 90% of suicides... It would be awful if there was a necromancer and they used him to resurrect you back into this world to wageslave as a zombie if you ctb'd.

If 120 years ago everyone had been gay and gayerly gayed gayness, we'd have no suicides today. No heteros, no breeding, no humans, no suicides.

As for whether or not it would be a good day is entirely your choice. Personally, I hate the day. So much. There is this poetry magazine I'm subscribed to and even they are sending me emails about world suicide prevention day. My social media is flooded with people sharing posts about suicide prevention. All of it makes me want to crawl into a hole or disappear.

Yet another stupid "awareness" day for compulsive virtue signallers!
On a more personal level it is one of those (usually cruel) ironies that my life abounds with. It was my dad's birthday, and his death pushed me very close to the edge! A few days after he died I came really close to offing myself - closest I've ever been- but I changed my mind for my mom's sake . I never told her until recently.

There are people in the world who do not wish to act on their suicidal thoughts, and having a Prevention Day might (or maybe not) helps them. If this is true then excellent.

...Though for me, personally, it changes nothing.

It can never be prevented, it can only be reduced, but I will not allow anyone to prevent mine. Unfortunately I may have to resort to jumping off a bridge or a cliff given that barbiturates are even harder to get hold of than sodium nitrite, though the way Callie Lewis went in a tent filled with carbon monoxide appeals to me.

In a sane world, we we would have World Suicide Day. Free or low cost vials of pentobarbital would be distributed by community centers throughout the world to anyone that signs legally binding documents that they are 100% sure that this is what they want. The document would also contain a waiver that no individual or group can be sued after the consenting adult has imbibed the deadly liquid.
Sometimes it does a soul good to fantasize about such completely impossible scenarios.

It's a very delicate thing I think. I can respect attempts to 'save' someone from suicide if they're happy to be 'saved'. It has to always be up to the suicidal person I think. What I dislike is when people make it very clear they don't want to be 'saved' but force is nonetheless used to stop them.
