Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Writing a note may help you feel better. It can be compared to writing a letter that you never intend to send. However, it will not help you overcome survival instinct.

Nah, I think mine is doing the opposite effect even. It's so long I'm thinking of remaking it from scratch and be concise instead.

I have written some brief notes, in case I CTB, tho this was years before my 2022 attempt. For me, I don't think it changed the chance of an attempt, just that it helped me log reasons for wishing CTB.

What changed the chance of an attempt was knowing CTB is a thing, knowing a potential way, and feeling that CTB (at the time) was smth for me to try (as an escape from life). The decision to try was made quite fast, and the decision to cancel the attempt was made because a few minutes passed and the supposed effects weren't occuring.

As for being "the only person who can really answer that", I'm one of several people who have experience and read the thread (eg, both written notes and attempted), tho replies from people with even their thoughts (regardless of attempt experience) does help present a bigger picture too.

I did a few years ago. But I'm somehow still here. My plan was to type it out on my phone, set it as my lock screen background, then follow through with it. But I was too much of a chicken shit to go through with it. I regret that every fucking day. I still have it saved in my phone notes to this day. I occasionally go back and read it, and break down... I often wonder what I would change about it to align with my life today and why I was too much of a fucking pussy. If I made edits to align with my life today, would I still pussy out?

not for me, i keep ruminating over implications or interpretation or whatever and then i look back. i don't think words are the most true reflections of ourselves. i feel like notes keep me hung up on life.

I have to agree. It might offer a sense of closure and serve to tie up any loose ends if that feels necessary as well, but those things won't make the prospect of dying itself any less scary.

I felt I owed the people that care for me an explanation if it might offer them some closure, and completing my note seemed to assuage at least some of the guilt I've felt about leaving them behind. It was certainly one less thing to hold onto, but ended up being cathartic more than anything. I can't say it comes close to any of the factors that actually pushed me over the edge into attempting.

Depends what you put in it. If it's long, emotional, reminds you of your relatives and other life attachments, it might have the opposite effect. Mine, if I ever write one, will likely just say how it's nobody's fault and beg my remaining family to care for my pets or find them a good home.

What thread?
