Will my Smith & Wesson 9 mm shield plus do the trick?

Hi, I have been wanting to ctb for a few years now as I genuinely believe I have lived the greatest parts in life and I want to leave. I just bought my first gun, a semi automatic 9 mm S&W shield plus and I am planning to do it tonight. I don't think I can muster up the courage to do it through the mouth so I am planning to shoot right above the ear. I know a shotgun would be a better choice but this is what I've got. I'm also a younger female if this makes any difference but will it be enough to kill me?

I'm not an expert, but I suspect as long as you're not rescued it should be ok. Would a gunshot alert your neighbours to call for help? That could be bad news if you're still bleeding out. If you're rescued, you'd obviously have brain damage. Sorry it's come to this, sorry we're losing you so soon

Depending on the ammo being used I'd say yeah for sure. That positioning just above the ear with a +p+ JHP round will cause enough kenetic energy to ping the brain stem anyway even if the bullet itself somehow misses. I'd personally go on GunBroker.org and order some underwood 124gr 9mm+p+JHP ammo cause most gun shops don't carry the +p+ stuff just the others.

Depending on the barrel length and ammo used that's a very good caliber. 4inch-6inch barrel is ideal with underwoods 125gr JHP .357mag ammo.

Well I am planning to do it in a nature center on one of the trails very late at night so my thought is that even if someone in a house nearby called about a gunshot, it would take Emergency Responders a decent amount of time to find where the shot came from and me on one of the trails.

I tried to find cross-sections online showing where exactly the brain stem is relative to exterior anatomy but there is a curious lack of images of that.

Through the mouth is also never advised. The brain is an amazing thing and can and very probably will compensate for any unilateral damage by having the other hemisphere just magically fucking take up the responsibilities of the obliterated side. Obviously this is among the most destructive injuries but imo is absolutely not the kind of thing I would want to survive. And people have survived it.

Please make sure of absolutely everything before trying this.

If this is towards me, I don't plan on going this way… it's too brutal, my SI wouldn't allow it. I was just curious if it would do the job. Thanks for your concerns all around, greatly appreciated

No. No. No. No. No. No. No. You would be taking a huge gamble by doing it this way. More than likely you will have a "flinch" right at the moment you are squeezing the trigger, assuming you can actually squeeze the trigger. You are likely to survive and be permanently damaged, maybe to the point where you won't be able to ever try any method of ctb ever again. And I hate throwing the gender hing into this, and I mean no disrespect, but it takes some hand/finger strength to pull the trigger smoothly, which is what is necessary. The SI "flinch" aside, when you are applying strength to squeeze the trigger, you will be inducing an amount of tremor that can further hinder your objective and, consequentially, affect the trajectory route of the bullet as it's exiting the barrel. I think you're going to have shake and flinch, neither of which is good for what you are trying to accomplish. Better to stick it in your mouth. But, it still isn't going to be 100% certain of success.
