Venting why the hell is it so hard to make friends!?

I'm genuinely tired of this whole socializing thing, I'm an extrovert sure but everyone just sucks, I feel so damn lonely and pathetic because I've tried my hardest to make friends but there's no one for me , in real life everyone has already formed their friend groups and I'm just left out.Online friendships aren't the best for me as well, I barely try to talk online ( its so scary thinking someone could dox me because they don't like me TvT) but that one time I tried to do so , the only people I received msgs from were creeps asking to "send" . I feel alone in this world and there's no one who actually tries to help me , I try asking my parents for advice and its always some bull crap like "oh you don't need friends in life" dad I'm aware you have trauma but PLEASE DON'T GIVE ME SOME ALPHA LEADER LONE PACK CRAP. Besides that I'm constantly surrounded by people but i'm aware they'll never really see me as a friend.

I also used to be very careful about speaking to people online but eventually I had to ease off a bit to make friends.

I would say you'd be safe if you don't share your city or town, your last name and don't share pictures that you took yourself of your area, or of your area in general.

Keep to discord or similar services that don't leak your other (irl) friends, and don't share tiktok, Instagram or FB links as they can leak your username unless you know how to redact the links.

Be aware if your discord profile has linked profiles like YouTube or Spotify with your name.

If you trust the person a lot you can do some of those, but it's ok to be overly cautious and never share your second name I think.

A good friend would respect if you didn't want to share any information and just chat or game.

I also have difficulty making friends IRL and since i am an old (42) dude it's especially hard since younger people probably think i am weird for wanting to just hang out with them. I developed kinda slowly and i am only able to handle strangers for about 10 or so years. I was a total loner as a teenager and in my twenties.

I dream of finding a girlfriend someday but my mother always says i shouldn't because there might be some heartbreak involved but i am absolutely okay with it.

PS: I agree with Faded avoid telling people real data about yourself plus control what your profiles say about you and doxxing shouldn't be an issue.

If you can, go to a bar or pub. If you have a dog, take it out on a walk and say hello to anyone you pass. Sitting on a park bench can also work to meet people but it's much slower.
