  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Because the normtards are too selfish to be able to imagine anything but their own complacent dullness.

why its so selfish to kill myself?
Yeah, thanks for the ppl who supported me and shit but I don't give a shit. I will not even leave a note, fuck you all.
For what I have to apologize or feel guilty about? For finding my freedom?
People waste all their energy trying to guilt trip me over everything I do while I'm alive, and then they have the nerve to try and guilt trip me over wanting to CTB by telling me it's selfish, when they are the reason I want to CTB. So horrible and cruel.

It's selfish in the sense that what you're doing, ctb, is for you alone, only you, regardless of what anyone else thinks. It has to be. That's the definition of selfish. You are putting you interests ahead of anyone else's. There's nothing wrong with that, IMO. A decision as profound as taking your own life has to be your decision, and yours alone.

I don't think that suicide is inherently selfish, at least not in the way that I think many people who call it that are intending, but it does have some selfish qualities. In many cases, it can do a lot of damage to the people left behind. I'm fairly sure mine would.

I see a lot of anger on here centred around 'pro lifers' etc, and how they can't understand this the way that we do. But remember, we don't understand it they way they do. Sure some people will try to talk you out of things just to make themselves feel good, but others might be genuinely doing it out of love.

Please understand, I'm not disputing everybody's points here. I'm just saying that if we expect other people to respect our feelings, we have to respect theirs as well, whether we agree or not.

To those who know the deep suffering it takes to actually consider ending your own life, suicidal is not considered selfish at all. It's the ones who cannot even fathom what that feels like tend to be the ones who call it selfish. They have no idea.

they think it's selfish because it's a waste of manpower, you'll no longer be 'useful' to the economy now that you're dead
a waste of an investment your parents put it. our species won't grow as fast
you'll embarrass your family, make them look bad.

that's why they think it's selfish. it's all stupid reasons. at the end of the day our lives don't need to have meaning if you don't want it to.
my life motto is "do what you want unless others are physically hurt because of it"

It's unfortunate that many people see it as selfish, they can't see that they're being more selfish expecting us to stay through it all for so much longer

Well, except without the living part.

What about the people who suicide because they feel they are a burden on their loved ones? Is that still selfish?

To be selfish, I think you have to be taking something to which other people might reasonably have a claim. If I buy a pie, bring it home and put it in the fridge, then later take it out and eat it all myself, what might make this selfish depends on others' reasonable expectations of sharing in it. If my housemates and I routinely share groceries and eat together, perhaps they can reasonably expect to share in it. If we all buy our groceries separately and don't eat each other's food, then they shouldn't expect to share in it.

So, who has a reasonable claim to our continued existence? A life partner would seem to my mind to have about the best claim, apart from any children that I might have. But then, if you can break-up with or divorce a life partner, it seems unlikely that this should restrict suicide. If we owe care to our children, then it seems they would have a good claim on our continued existence.

One thing that has kept me from suicide has been wanting to be there to care for my beloved cat--thinking of her not knowing where I am really fucks me up. But she has passed on two years ago now.
