If so many people and celebrities died by OD, like Nick Drake, Mac Miller, Jim Morisson. Are ODs really out of the picture in our community?

It's a crapshoot and if you don't die you can end up worse off with serious organ or brain damage.

Most drugs available to OD on nowadays are unreliable. The stereotype of people ODing on sleeping pills, for example, came about when barbiturates were the common sleeping medication available. Nowadays, they are almost completely extinct.

Many unnamed people survived OD behind the celebrities in the news.

its cus they have a low probability to actually die. Those people probably just got lucky. Most things to be able to die from an overdose on require so much of it that you will most likely throw it up.

Some celebrity ODs are obvious suicides (such as Nick Drake), some are deemed accidental, and with others there is ambiguity surrounding whether they were deliberate or accidental. Some of the accidental ODs such as Heath Ledger's involved several different drugs that happened to create a lethal combination.

The important takeaway is this: people wanting to CTB via OD should follow an established protocol, such as those found in the PPH, not just swallow a bunch of pills and hope for the best.

Well I know you are just throwing them out as examples but two of them (Drake and Morrison) OD'ed several decades ago. Since then, a lot has changed in terms of how doctors prescribe drugs, how the Pham companies make them and how lethal (or lack there of) these days. It seems when it comes to how strong these drugs are that people are getting are usually much safer than they used to be. That's not to say you Cant overdose on drugs these days i just think their are far more cases of people who take these drugs (or overtake them) and end up surviving. Most the overdoses end up with hospital visits and doing damage to yr body. That is why many people warn you that CTB via OD is not always the best way to go about it.

Because most of the celebrity ODs happened in the good old days when the good stuff like barbiturates, opioids and Mandrax were available. Alcohol+ barbiturates is the absolute best way to CTB and they took it away from us forever because all barbiturates except from phenobarbital are banned now. It's infuriating.

It is unreal what the body can withstand and survive, in my personal opinion overdose is best combined with something else just to be sure. Probably not optimal to end up not dead but severely brain damaged etc.

As others have said... the most successful suicides by overdose occurred longer ago when stronger drugs were available more easily over-the-counter (without prescription). Even many prescription drugs now can be difficult to overdose on just those drugs. Also as others have said, a number of the deaths by overdose or drug-combinations in recent years have likely been accidental either due to accidentally combining multiple drugs OR drugs with alcohol... and perhaps something else that didn't make the news. Keep in mind that they don't always release all the details on the news for fear that they could accidentally give others an idea of how to purposefully do something that someone else did by accident.

It's far more likely that you end up damaging yourself in some permanent way rather than dying and that will just make things worse for you.

Or maybe got unlucky for them. I think Nick Drake was the only one from the list who intentionally overdosed.

I'm gonna say maybe because the vast majority of drugs that a person may try to OD on are going to be ineffective, and have the potential to cause survivable harm.

Its nice that people ask about certain meds as option on here before just running to them, but it is scary some of the options people ask about and think to myself "jesus, this person is either gonna ctb very slowly and painfully or just end up with a screwed up body and a lot of problems." The body is just really resilient. If you look at capital punishment and euthanasia drugs, you are normally dealing with multiple powerful meds that are all given IV and are not available to the general public and even then, those sometimes fail to work. That being said, it is my current top option as I do have access to all that. Its just once I get them, theres no going back as they will be linked to me.

They are unreliable. Even opioids because of differing levels of sensitivity amongst people. You don't know the purity of the street drugs your getting so it's extremely hard to calculate the proper dose. Sending it off for testing is prohibitive and time consuming as well.
