Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

You can say the absolute worst things to somebody on YouTube comments and nothing happens.

How long have you used youtube? I started a couple years after it kicked off maybe 2007 and it was TERRIBLE. I don't know how early content creators hung in there. I never had my own channel so idk what the moderation capabilities look like but there was a sweet spot in the 2010's where people could argue a bit but it wasn't nearly as vile as the 2000's and you could post links in comments and find cool stuff that way. Then the shadow banning and purges happened followed by censorship which has loosened up a little but the search ago smothers everything. Channel owners have a role in moderating the comments under their vids to some extent.

Have you reported people and nothing happened then?

But yeah, I get really worked up sometimes, reading the comments. I assume it's because people aren't reporting them though.

Or, they don't want to get into it with a possible troll or- someone genuinely hateful and aggressive. It may not have occured to them to use a pseudonym on the account so, they may not want someone like that coming after them.

I haven't seen many "bad" comments on YT but I limit what I watch on YT due to interest. They are constantly on "like, comment, subscribe" but the comments are all drive-bys with no real communication taking place. Most of the negative comments are due to bad AI graphics, click bait titles, outright false information that minimum research would have shown, or really bad chat bots mispronouncing words.

That does sound shitty. Did the moderators bother to explain why they weren't taking action? Was it because the person technically didn't break their rules?

Maybe that's why- lax rules or, maybe just not enough moderators. YouTube is huge. I wonder how many they even have. I wonder how much they pay them.
