Why are people always like "If people treat you like shit, it's your fault. It's not that hard to become socially likable." and then proceed to ruthlessly mock you when you say you're misanthropic due to being ostracized. Idk. Something about the majority of people doesn't sit right with me. Most people seem cold, cruel, boring, and ready to make fun of anyone in their path if it means they'll get attention. What is going on?

Misanthropy tends to be accepted if it is presented in a semi-humorous way. Beyond that, most people do seem to find socialising relatively easy so have no way of empathising with those of us who don't. It sucks, though. It wouldn't be socially acceptable for them to tell someone in a wheelchair to just walk already.

They're people lacking in empathy that think the world revolves around the privileged bubble they live in. People don't want to hear about the bad aspects of life or humanity because it's inconvenient to to hear the truth.

It's a product of profound selfishness and narcissism.

A while back someone told me I'm selfish for trying to make a living by selling things at a price he didn't like. When I confronted him about his immoral actions and how selfish people are on a daily basis he got even more angry, told me he felt sorry for me that I think that way, that I'm making excuses, and that he'd pray for me. Most people have an inability to face reality and would rather live in a fairy tale in their head so they don't have to feel bad.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Many people see misanthropes as "edgy teenagers who pretend they're smart" because of ignorance, and of course, stupidity.

Looking at the world we live in, I'm actually wondering, how aren't there more misanthropes? How can someone not be misanthrope? Most people really seem to be that delusional.

Being a misanthrope doesn't only mean disliking 99% of humanity. Misanthropy is a reasonable reaction at the way the world is. At the way humans made things "work". Misanthropy means critical thinking and having a common sense.

But there's also a pattern that misanthropes have been hurt over and over by others. There's also a saying that goes like " Misanthropes are disappointed idealists ". In my case I find it true because when I was a teen I was an idealist.

But, why would the normie who lived a sheltered life, who follows the life script and never tried to think even for a second because the government does the thinking for them and goes out of their way to be socially acceptable, why would that normie understand what misanthropy is or why there are misanthropes. They don't give a flying fuck, they only care about their social status. They will do anything as long as they look good in the eyes of their peers and of the thought police. And that includes mocking people who question human nature and society, people who deviate from the norms and imposed beliefs.

I believe it may be because sometimes misanthropy can come across as quite hypocritical depending on where it stems from. You hate humans because of how they treat other humans? That's like if a racist said they hated 'x group of people' just because of how they treat people in their same group. Maybe it makes sense to some of them but from an outside view it does seem very confusing. In the case of misanthropy, there are plenty of other reasons to hate humans but this just doesn't seem like a good one to me. Wouldn't it make more sense for a true misanthrope to applaud when humans are being cruel and vindictive to each other if they truly hate all of them because true hatred usually leads to seeing joy in any form of the target of hatred suffering.

Hating humans because you don't like seeing them suffer seems like a huge double standard. It can also look like a further continuation of the "us vs them" mentality that many of the worst humans are already guilty of themselves so that's possibly one area that leaves room for mockery. I struggle with this dilemma myself when considering misanthropy except I don't think I hate all other humans, I simply don't care about most of them. I don't mean to say anyone is wrong or worthy of mockery for thinking you're misanthropic because you only hate the way some humans treat other humans, but I think maybe misanthropic might not simply be the right label for someone like that. There should really be a word for hating certain tendencies most humans display instead of just the humans themselves.

i agree. Current labeling often can be misconstrued to mean alot of things other than whats inteded. People cant just invent words though. It is a kind of a mystical process if you ask me to come up with words and their meanings. It surely is an important vehicle for progression and advancement of civilizatiobs when they sift through intricacies to gain meaning to put a word on it.

Bingo. ANYTHING is acceptable if you present it in an amicable fashion.

i think it also makes people uncomfortable because i suppose in a way it might make them question their behaviour or human nature in general. and people don't like to think about that kind of stuff. to deal with uncomfortable topics, many neurotypicals seem to like joking about it/mocking it because it minimizes the issue in question. It puts them back onto their pedestal where they can look down on others.
