Why do I suddenly have the desire to cut myself

Since three days ago I am listening to music related to cutting, suicide and scene/emo culture and after doing research related to knives yesterday (and what knives Yuri most likely uses), I got the desire to try cutting myself.
Not that I am in a bad mental health, I mean yeah, I still am on this forum and get occasionaly some suicidal thoughts, but all in all I wouldn't have a "reason" for cutting myself.
And to be honest, if I only think about a knife or something slicing into my flesh or into some vein, I am wincing.
Maybe it's because I'm still in a state where I try different things out, but I dunno.

I suppose it's your brain getting fascinated with the topic after researching about it so much so it gets curious. You don't really need a reason to cut yourself, I mean, I don't really have a reason and yet my right arm looks like a chopping board. I wouldn't recommend feeding into that curiosity though as it's an addiction and you'll soon realise just how powerful that feeling actually is.

Yuri is my favourite DDLC character :) Surprised I don't see more of her on this site.

Well if you're in a bad place cutting can provide a release. When I first began cutting, it felt really euphoric. but I was on the verge of jumping off the nearest building. the more you cut, the more you'll want to do it, the more you have to hide. in the long run you will have ugly scars. you should consider these things before doing something just because an anime character did it

I'm still curious, but in the last days I distracted myself with learning how to hyperventilate and faint on purpose, as it doesn't leave scars like cutting will do.
I think I will try cutting however sometime in the future in the form of knife play; with a partner it could become really interesting.

Didn't know, it was so addictive, I thought about maybe trying it once, but I guess then it's like with alcohol and cigarettes..
And yeah, you're right, in the end Yuri is just a fictional character and no real person. Maybe I'm romanticising cutting a bit too much.
