why cant I search the forum for posts?

I don't see a search bar but I see people talking like there is one

Click on the third symbol. It opens into a search box. The one that looks like an O with a tail.

Must be that, the fourth symbol (chat bubbles) are for the chatrooms.
You'll have to wait :)

The forum filter should be available to new users. It works like a simple search, limited to the forum section you're viewing. You can find the Filters button at the top right side right above the sticky threads.

In the meantime you can just use google:

SN site:sanctioned-suicide.net

will search the website for results of "SN"
