Ive tried cutting myself over the past 2 days and i havent bled yet. I don't know why. Am i actually scared to cut myself or is the knife too dull?
I tried putting as much force as i could, i tried cutting my palm and the back of my palm. I am probably too skinny to cut myself and i will cut the veins and bleed out probably

No, you won't. Cutting has so low success rate that it is considered non-method here.

The knife might be dull because a sharp one will make some damage and the pressure really matters I think you're just afraid of actually getting cut, it happens. I've seen people put a lot of pressure but then the blade lifts up at the last moment because they're afraid then they either end up with a graze or not be cut at all. Bleeding out is really hard, firstly its not super easy to actually damage your arteries to bleed out and die, your blood will clot and all. Why are you trying? If its for self harm then you should try something else like snapping a rubber band against your skin. If you actually really really want to cut yourself and not damage your arteries (again, its not that easy) then you could choose a meatier place where there's more muscles, find out where the major arteries are to avoid any risk. But, if you're trying to CTB from cutting then that's not really a good idea, the user above had already mentioned that.

those are no where near enough for me anymore. i used to punch the wall, smack my head, bite my hand and do all sorts of stuff with my hand but nowadays i just have an urge to cut myself. ive tried a slicing motion like 5-10 times in one area and it just doesnt slice through. i did put as much pressure as i can. maybe i am actually afraid of cutting myself or the blade is too dull. a week ago, cutting myself wouldnt have even crossed my mind. its something that i just did not wish to do but the urge is too much. ive even contemplated going out and buying a new blade and went out last night though i couldnt find one

I understand. It must be really painful to come to this choice. You might be afraid of getting cut and lifting up the blade right before it can do anything without realizing it. Did you try cutting something else, like paper, to confirm its not your blade? I think you should try something else if you cannot cut yourself. Stay safe and avoid doing anything rash.

Yeah i tried again last night, the knife in my house is really just too dull. I tried sharpening it against a ceramic cup. Did manage to cut myself enough to leave a scar but not enough to bleed and even that took a lot of effort. I guess using a blade this dull is too risky. I will have to buy a new one

so ive been doing some research, and, apparently, even though arteries are the way to go very easily (within minutes), it is difficult (if not impossible) to get to an artery whilst self harming.

veins, on the other hand, are closer to the skin surface and easily accessible. but the blood in the veins travels at a lower pressure and will clot before one bleeds out..

HOWEVER, major veins (like the jugular in the neck) can cause life-threatening blood loss very quickly. the external jugular vein i would say is pretty easy to get to.

now that ive got this hint, my plan of action is to apply some pressure round my neck with a shoelace and watch it pop out (not too much pressure that i pass out), stand in front of a mirror, grab a sharp razor and the rest is hopefully history.

i think it will help tremendously that im already familiar with cutting and i have cut the vein on the inside of my elbow repeatedly in the past. it may not have been as major as the jugular, but it still bled loads...

it gives me such relief to know that there is a possible painless, quick, easily accessible method.
