Why are people so happy to procreate too much?

I think life is a horrible abomination

For a book of reasons. .just 1 reason is that so many different horrible things can trap any human in extreme suffering or unbearable pain.

Imo i guess most people have to be heavily programmed not to know Remember or keep in mind that many horrible things can happen to any human including themselves or their children . And also not understand how bad the horrible things can be and how bad suffering or pain can be. Pain and suffering can be much worse than any pleasure addiction. For example what is worth even 60 seconds of the worst constant most unbearable worst pain?

What is a human ? cells, brain cells , a brain that can suffer unending constant unbearable pain.

How many people have seen this or know a human is just a brain brain cells which are called neurons. This is what is going on in a human brain neurons connecting to form the nightmare of extreme pain

Coming from someone without children. I think procreation is our most basic instinct drive. Basically its the reason why we big apes are here is to make more of us.

But we grew to self aware and nature created an aspect of ourselves and we think we all mean something and have a dream of being a person.

I think the shortest answer to this whole thread is... You should be free to choose whether or not you want to have children. But you should NOT be able to choose whether anyone else chooses to have children. Also, no one should shame you for not wanting children. Similarly, you should NOT shame someone else for wanting them.

It's fair to criticize someone who obviously harms children or is harmful to their own children... but merely having children is not a form of harm. Similarly, saying you shouldn't have children if you are poor or in a war zone or whatever is just not proper. At best it sounds elitist as if only the perfect people (in your opinion) in the perfect situation (also in your opinion) should be "allowed" to have them.

True, many of us do not want to be here, wish we were never born, or are looking for a way out now... but nobody can possibly know that before we are here. Plenty of people do actually rise from struggles to thrive... and plenty of people are born into good situations but struggle despite having a leg-up in the beginning of their lives. Again, there is no way to know how someone or their life will turn out before it happens.

We are all entitled to our opinions on whether or not we have children... but not entitled to impose them on others.

Children shouldn't be brought into this world to rebuild or fix whatever serious generational fuck ups the adults started. It's pretty selfish.

And no one is talking about imposing a child-free lifestyle on others. That is some Nazi Hitler stuff and I'm completely against that. I agree that no one should shame or ridicule anyone for having kids, but you are not immune from indirect criticism. And that's my last 2 cents on this post.

Im wired different I always knew since I was a kid that life is mostly suffering and never wanted to pass my depression genes on to a kid. Been on birth control since I was a young adult its a beautiful invention . I asked my mom about why people have kids when there is so much suffering in the world and she said that most people are happy. Are they though? Some of us are different and think about how we dont want to pass on suffering. Most people dont think about it and run by their ape brains

This is where depression is actually a blessing for me. I have zero interest in life or having kids, I don't have that drive at all. Maybe it's all thanks to my depression and anhedonia. I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid recently and if I'd wanted kids I probably wouldn't have been able to have them or would've had multiple miscarriages until I got medicated. So I feel like depression saved me from a lot of disappointments. I actually feel incredibly lucky in that way to not want these things. Silver lining and all that anyway it's just not true to blanket say that all humans have some crazy strong drive they have no ability to control. The reason normies breed is because they can't sit with uncomfortable feelings and don't like to feel depressed. Having kids gives them hope-and they don't care about the fate of their kids because they're not deep enough to even contemplate it. The normies don't think, they just do.

You can't bend the world to your will - your opinion is really just meaningless. A wall isn't going to break if you bash your head against it a thousand times, you'll just end up hurting your own head.

I think the problem us antinatalists have is that it seems parents are doing exactly that-forcing life on people who could never consent to it. To me they are malevolent beings trying to exert their power and control on others. Most people just don't think deeply enough to ever realise this.

Actually it was even worse before, same with the west. I believe low birthrates are more due to economic and general social factors rather then misogyny. Not saying it's bad, just that by itself it doesn't necessary cause low birthrates. But a genderwar is not helping at all, because you're not really gonna have a child if you'd need to sleep with "The Enemy", let alone have an environment and be able to foster a child.

Yes, I don't think there should be "hard rules" on who can and can't have children. But at the same time it's just so plain to see that having children can be unwise and objectively a negative in certain very bad situations, or when someone gives birth just to be a bad parent and mess them up soon after birth. If you can't even feed yourself, then it'd be a bad idea to have a kid, that is obvious. I feel like you're equating saying you should've have children with "You MUST not reproduce, or else".

To pass on their genes and ensure their survival, just like animals do. Only humans are greedy so they overpopulate as a means to have greater control and power over others and the planet. Society supports and encourages it as a good thing that is expected...ie it gives people a sense of entitlement as children are seen as a healthy contribution to the economy and those who don't have children are viewed as lesser members of the society, unless they have other ways to compensate for it.

Some of the assertions about how you "shouldn't" bring children into a bad world... I mean, stop and think about that for a second. Thousands of years ago the world was much harsher for everyone and life expectancy was <30 years... so back then if there was a big "don't have kids in this horrible world" movement, we might not be here at all today.

Anime, KPOP, etc did wonders for their reputation and with being decent countries on a surface-level (low crime & relatively decent economies) . Most people see how nice the cities are and the good media they produce and basically extrapolate it to the rest of society.

This is a side note but I read the nice media and cultural exports thing you said and... I remembered that Saudi Arabia exists and it started doing the same thing with sportswashing and it's kind of working! Which is awful and proves that humans and countries as a whole don't really care as long as they get something out of it.

It's the norm. Most people don't really think about if they can afford to have a child, what kind of world they're gonna grow up in, are they mentally stable enough to not cause the kid trauma.

Tbh I think it's gross. I got my tubes yeeted five years ago after RBG died, even though I'm ace. I absolutely do not wanna have kids because I don't wanna bring someone into this fucked up world. And I'm far too mentally ill and broke.

My older sister has three kids. She was already struggling with two but got pregnant literally right after she had her second child. She recently got fired from her job and her car broke down so she's stuck at home with three kids and nothing to eat.

This is exactly what I'm talking about when I say I think having kids is gross. Not the kids themselves, no, but the selfish ass parents who willingly have kids while they're living in abject poverty and the child suffers because of it

I saw this before somewhere on here... but in their eyes, we're the odd ones out, because they see life as a "gift", so did their parents, and their parents parents, and their parents parents parents... you get the deal, so to them, it doesn't make sense to say "when born we are set up to suffer, we live just to die, we are forced to feel pain, and we (in the end) are just moral." people will never stop procreating, I truly think that, but at least WE know it's worth nothing, because we live to die, but if we are never born, we stay dead. Same end goal either way, just one is tougher.

Plus legacy, these people are so attached to this dumbass world they NEVER wanna be forgotten, even when they're dead and shouldn't care, they think if they have a child to carry on their bloodline, that MAYBE, just MAYBE, their pain, suffering, and life, just would've been worth it.

by doing so, they subject another person to that same suffering.

and the cycle continues.
