  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Why are people bothered, hate being told about their misfortunes? Do we complain too much? Why do they force us to be happy and keep silent? Why do people hate the depressed? This situation is untenable for my life. I need to relieve myself of my suffering all the time, to talk about it from time to time. But it bothers. Even talking about wanting CTB or being euthanized is also disturbing!

Most people want simple relationships without too much complications. We may sound to other as complainers or in general people that do not want to pull themselves together. Really close friends or beloved one will listen to a point, but discussions of suicide are too much for most people.

Nobody essentially feel comfortable in telling another person, yes I agree with you, suicide is the right path. Most people are mentally programmed to avoid that reaction. Maybe for terminally ill patients it could be easier to understand, but very few people could understand that the same applies also to depressed people.

I just gave up with life, I did a little bit in the past but now it is all gone and I would like to rest as well.

Sometimes it's because someone's problems aren't really that bad. Other times it's because no one wants to tell anyone that they have a s*** life. x

Some more reasons, offhand:
  • trauma by proxy: hearing other people's trauma, may traumatize them too. Also, your nonexistence may traumatize them.
  • the end of potential: most people have goals. (Even if those goals are frankly dull & unambitious.) Hard for them to internalize your perspective, and still be motivated for those goals.

In general I think people just want a "I'm doing well" response when they ask how we are. Not many want to deal with the uncomfortable silence when they have to response to the truth.

I think that people would often rather avoid things that they don't understand, they would rather deny reality than accept existence for what it really is. People don't want to face the fact that for many people life is simply not worth living as it shatters their delusional worldview. By accepting the harsh reality of life they would have to accept the fact that life could potentially get so horrible for themselves and this thought scares them.

the only time people are willing to listen about venting about heavy topics is when its in a format that's easier to not think too hard on the person behind it (music, poems, movies, ect.) they'll be so distracted at the message/sound that they forget that's how a person feels every single day wrapped in a prettier package. though it does have a better success for people to listen to one's woes.

because it shatters the illusion of life being all peaches and cream with the harsh reality that some people get dealt an impossible to play hand (or a deck with a missing staple card).
